EGM is back photo

Remember childhood? It was a time of innocence and happiness, when everything was always sunshine and roses and if it wasn't your mommy would take care of it. It was a time when the printed medium ruled and every month you'd get a new edition of EGM and literally scour every page again and again. Then you grew up, and the internet came along and you stopped looking at EGM despite the fact that it had given you so much. Then one day EGM was gone and you were sad. It was kind of like that book The Giving Tree, except in book the tree can't come back.

Wait, come back? That's right snitches, EGM will rise from the grave like the carcass of your girlfriend after you've chopped her head off with a shovel and she becomes possessed by a deadite. The magazine is being reborn under the guidance of its original founder, Steve Harris. Harris entered into an agreement with Ziff Davis Media to require the rights to Electronic Gaming Monthly (old school font in tact) and is hoping to "continue delivering quality content to gaming enthusiasts." He believes that the magazine can be successful, and we're guessing he's right if he budgets everything right and doesn't let it turn into the bloated mammoth that sunk it originally. The press release says that more will be announced at E3.

Ziff Davis couldn't be happier either, saying, "“We are pleased that EGM is now in the hands of its original creator, Steve Harris, and wish him and the publication the best of success in the future.” How about you? Will you be shutting the computer down and picking up printed page once again when EGM starts shipping? You know these blog things are pretty crappy; they'll hire anyone

Well, this is quite the shock. I'm happy to hear this, but I don't know if I'll ever pick up another printed magazine with the internet and all...

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
