eBayed PS2 packed with cash

eBayed PS2 packed with cash photo

For the most part, eBay sucks. What was once a haven of bargains and rare finds for gamers has now turned into a free-for-all, and people are now selling crap like Jesus Cheetos and alien babies in a jar. It's a shame, really. That's why it's great to hear that one British gamer got the deal of the century from a recent auction.

The 16-year-old was lucky enough to be the last guy on earth to hop onto the PlayStation 2 wagon. His £95 (almost $200) winning bid for the console and two games seemed to be a ripoff at first, as the two games were missing. He made out like a bandit, though, as €65,400 ($90,000) was packed inside instead.

Like any sane people, the parents of this gamer contacted police as soon as they found out. Police are holding the cash until late September, but there's potential for the cash to go back to the family under the countries' Police Property Act. Hell, he could almost afford a PS3 with that kind of cash. (kidding!)

A spokesman for eBay said: "We know that eBay is a great place to pick up a bargain, although in this case, we agree that the contents of the parcel were somewhat unusual and we will assist with any inquiries the police may wish to make."

Sigh... I wish I had drug dealers that sold their money filled game systems over here.

How exactly do you let something like that happen? I would think that that is the type of mistake that ends your life in the drug world.

Talk about random! I'm actually somewhat shocked that they actually reported it.

Damn I would be pissed if my parents reported the money. I would just hide it somewhere and act as if nothing ever happened. Of course the shipper now has your address.

I ordered some comics on Ebay once and I got an extra package with additional comics. I contacted the seller and found out they were to go to someone else so I made him paypal me 3 bucks and I sent them on. They were totally awesome Batman vs. Predator comics too (I read them before I sent them on, though =0D).

@atheistium

Y'know, except that if there was anything remotely illegal about the money, the guy would be in seriously deep shit for not reporting it

I think I would've kept a little bit of the money. Maybe a thousand pounds or so. Finder's Keeper's Act of 1803

That is a lot of money to be stuffing in a game package. Wonder what the guy/gal was thinking. Maybe he should of put it in an E.T. for Atari 2600 package... or Barbie's Adventure. No one would of taken it then... lolz

I'm sorry but reporting it was the best thing to do, think about it, someone has just sent you a PS2 filled with cash by mistake, i think they're gonna want it back, and the safest thing to do would be to notify the police and media to reduce the risk of anyone coming to your house to get it back (by force of course).
Seeing as it was sent to them they clearly know where they stay, and everything will be fine nobody will actually claim the money so they'll get it back anyway. A few months ago a woman found £11,000 In Glasgow and handed it in to the police, now she's £11,000 richer. why do i only ever find 5 pence's everywhere?
