eBay as a marketing tool? Capcom explains how photo
     eBay

Capcom has a rather interesting way of reviewing its market to find out which of its old franchises could do with a remake. It checks eBay to find out which games are the hottest property.

"To choose titles to revive, we see if we can give old franchises the modern touch, and we evaluate the fanbase and see if there’s a market for it," stated John Diamonon of Capcom. "Sometimes we see games on eBay, and that’s how you see what games people are willing to spend $80 on. It’s certainly not the only thing we do, but sometimes we look there to assess the market value of a game."

How very Web 2.0 of you, Capcom. MTV points out that a copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 sold for $455 the other day, so you better get to work on that post-haste, eh wot?

:( I think Capcom just want to kill the collecting market.

If I was paying $450 for MvC, it'd better be the Arcade with two sets of joysticks and buttons. Wait, was MvC2 in arcades?

@Noah yeah it was

hell if the ps2 game is 450 i can't imagine what a a arcade cabinet would cost around 4k i'd guess

Too bad Capcom's legal problems with Marvel won't allow for an MvC2 remake :(

No way I'd buy a game for that much. One of the employees of the Gamestop I go to tells me every time I'm there about how a copy of the game came in, and before they could put it on the shelf, their manager bought it. The thing goes for $80 USED at GS...insane.

Nice to see Capcom using such forward thinking initiative. I'm liking them more as each day passes.

I wish Nintendo thought like this, then we would of got new Earthbound and Kid Icarus games ages ago.

Ugh, the PS2 and Xbox version of MvC2 are horrible! Really buggy. Stick with the Dreamcast version.
I did score MvC2, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, KoF99, and Gunbird 2 (all Dreamcast) for 90 bucks off of EBay a couple of months ago. So bargains can be had.

Quickly, organize a group of people to start selling the Megaman Legends games to each other for extremely large sums of cash! We need a sequal STAT!

thats funny, because I have 3 copies of MvC2 on the Ps2 I'm about to put up on ebay. I also got a MvC1 for Ps1 I might put up but I love the first one a lot, so I dunno. I just sold 13 oldschool RPGs for 200+ on ebay, so if your smart and can get retro games cheap (like me) You can resell and turn a profit.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 rumor:

My friend works for Marvel, and I was asking him when they were going to stop being douchebags and work with Capcom again and make Marvel vs Capcom 3.

According to him, there is no talk of a third game happening, BUT, there is "rumor mill" talk of MAYBE a release Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBLA with new character packs.

That would be amazing, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

wow, whoever paid $450 for the PS2 version of MvC2 is a tard. they could have bought a used Dreamcast & every 2D fighting game for the system, including MvC2 and play a superior version. 2D fighting games on the Dreamcast FTW!

guh... I think I might be the only person on earth that finds MVC2 over-rated. I mean, seriously, after a while, people only play the same 4 people. Team A? Cable, Sentinal, Magneto! Team B? Cable Sentinal Storm. Team C? Storm Magneto Cable! Team D? WTF?!?! Captain Cammando?!

Seriously though, I honestly feel that MVC2's price tag is not a true reflection of the quality or the popularity of the game itself, but rather a product of scarce demand and collectorism.

Ebay sucks. There are too many people on there and instead of competition lowering prices, it only seems to raise them.
