Usually I ignore your rambling, but I literally do not see how not giving a fuck about someone's rights is the only way to win this. Nor do I see how supporting the rights of LGBT people to marry who they like is "sickening." You're really gonna have to explain yourself on this one.
Knowing that my money is partially going to an asshole that financially supported the Prop 8 anti-gay marriage bill is not a good feeling, so whenever I buy one that douche's books (or when I paid for Shadow Complex), I donate twice as much cash to an LGBT Support charity.

I once had a conversation with some people from Gay Gamer about this topic, and they had great arguments in support of self-identification. The chief topic is the fact that they're a near-totally unconsidered demographic. Most games, and resulting game blogs, are catered entirely to straight gamers. I think it's perfectly acceptable for a site to cater to a particular demographic.
No, it doesn't change the content of a game, nor does it particularly affect one's enjoyment of most of them, but there's definitely a a difference when it comes to the communities. Just look at XBL users and their rampant homophobia to see why.
You can also look back through some old posts where my random article headers have been of men making out. Some of the opinions expressed in the comments are why sites like Gay Gamer are a good thing.
We also have the right to see the crap he's saying, and point it out for the utter crap it is.
Freedom of speech works both ways: People can say stupid crap, and we get to call it stupid crap.
No one's saying he can't say what he wants. They're just saying he's a dick and they're probably not going to buy his games anymore.
Classic 'freedom of speech' argument. Yes, he has right to say what he wants. Jim and we also have a right to challenge it and discuss our dislike of his views.
He absolutely has the freedom to say it. Others have the freedom to call him a cunt for it. I often find that people who defend their opinions by crying "free speech" misunderstand what the term means. It does not mean you get to say whatever you like unchallenged.
"Gay marriage is the pinnacle of social progress?"
I never said it was the pinnacle. I said it's inevitable because society is always progressing. Social progress won't end with gay marriage. It'll keep on marching forward.
That is true about the whole demographic thing but I still find it hard to think that people that many online and in gaming communities are homophobic. But I guess if they like their own community then leave 'em to it.
As far as this little bit of controversy, who gives a fuck what the creator of Earthworm Jim thinks? It's not like he's going to lead gaming culture one way or another anyway. He's just some irrelevant twat with a loud mouth. Publicizing his senseless crap just strengthens his platform. Remember people, don't feed the trolls.
On the other hand: If you were to avoid any and all material of which its creator had political views you either disagreed with or found repulsive, you'd be bored half the time.
Will Wright is a pretty economic conservative. I find his economic views outdated and disproven, with not a shred of credibility left in them thanks to the last couple of decades.
However, I love Sim City to death.
Plato's Republic is some the strongest, evilest proto-fascist bullshit at times, openly calling for the censorship of music and art which will not help build nice little robot soldiers for their perfect state.
However, it's still one of my favorite books, just for how beautifully it's written, and it's downright interesting.
But at the same time, if people don't want to support those things (since Will Wright is quite a noticeable Republican donor, so all that money from Sim City is going to elect people you might not like very much), they have a right to know where their money will be going and can choose not to support that by not purchasing their material.
Freedom works both ways guys. You have the freedom to do and say what you want. People also have the freedom not to use their money to propagate those things.
Besides, Earthworm Jim was lame. There, I said it.
so when i come on a GAMING site and see people trying to get all pissy about someone standing for something they believe in, then it appalls me. He has just as much right not to agree with gay marriage as someone has to want gay marriage. Hypocrites for the fucking lose.
He comes across more like a dumb Libertarian than a genuine bigot anyway.
If you look at the people who start cults("religions"), they're almost always pedophiles. There's a decent chance that Jesus was just some guy trying to fuck kids. Can we please stop using his religion as the authority on sexual morality?
And what does freedom of speech have to do with anything? Who's arguing that TenNapel shouldn't be allowed to say these things? Why is freedom of speech always brought up everytime someone says something controversial; even if no one is denying them their right to say it?
"@ mattrodroid - Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. It's as if people want to align themselves with a cause just to make themselves feel important."
If you're saying this towards the LGBT movement, it's incredibly stupid.
Where do you live that Gay people are treated completely equal? Cause I'd like to move there. Otherwise you are completely wrong and out of your mind.
Personally I don't really give a shit either way. He made a good game and since that's the only thing about the guy that affects me personally, that's all I really care about.
