Earthbound auction for Japan relief!

Mar 31 // JT Murphy

[JT Murphy is the man! He's putting up a copy of Earthbound on ebay and donating the proceeds to benefit Japan. Let's get the word out and make the auction really count! Want to see your own writing on the front page? Write something awesome and put it in the C Blogs. -- Kauza]

If you're a Dtoider, you know all about Earthbound. One of the titans among the SNES RPG library, beloved by hundreds of thousands of gamers, unfairly maligned by Nintendo of America, and all that.

I own a copy of the game, myself -- one that I bought in 1998 for $8.99, when my local Best Buy was trying to liquidate their stock. Oh, if only they knew what kind of a long-term investment they had on their hands. Through MAGFest's Ebay auction drive, I've put my copy of Earthbound -- including its box, strategy guide, and box insert -- up for sale. You can find it right here.

Gray gold, baby.

Each time I've played through Earthbound, it's been a highly spiritual experience for me. The times in my youth spent in Shigesato Itoi's parable count among the most peaceful, perfect moments of my life.

So now, in Japan's time of need, I'm giving it back to them.

If you've got money sitting around and want to own a Super Nintendo classic while being an awesome human being at the same time, now's your chance. Let's see some bids!

Yep, even the scratch-and-sniff cards are intact.
