Seriously, I'm going to be massively disappointed if this doesn't come out in the states, for if they take way too long to port it. Especially after the complete train wreck known as Insect Armageddon, I need a Japanese developed Earth Defense Force game. I need a true sequel to 2017, and this looks like that is exactly what it is.
Insect Armageddon was a train wreck of disappointment from second one. Everything was a downgrade from 2017. The variety in the levels was gone, every single level now looked exactly the same. The awesome loot from 2017 was watered down, and you unlocked weapons at a MUCH slower pace. That was half the fun, and they fucked it up. Then add on to that the fact that you level up so incredibly slowly that it took me 4 playthroughs of the game on the next to last hardest difficulty to level up just ONE character 80%.

I'd hate to hate on an EDF game, but IA represents everything wrong with Western development of Eastern games. I didn't think it was bad, it was just as bland as they could have made it. It may have looked better than 2017, but lacked anything resembling it's variety. The variety was the cornerstone of that game.

Just got the one on Steam when it was on sale. It's pretty good mindless fun. Kinda sad to see this one looks almost identical to it. Wonder how much different it really is.

IA was fun, but it definitely lacked the cartoony, arcade charm of 2017. Plus it was too short. And the robot bugs were pretty stupid.
I really love goofy Japanese games (especially 2017) so I really hope this comes stateside.

The Jet Suit was a brilliant addition to EDF. And while Insect Armageddon didn't quite reach the heights of 2017, it served as a great proving ground for new ideas. Here's hoping EDF4 will take some more of its improvements while retaining that 2017 flavor.
Definitely an import if it doesn't release state-side. It's not like there's a heavy amount of reading to be done WHEN THERE'S A HEAVY AMOUNT OF SHOOTING TO BE DONE.
Finally, some fucking news worth posting about. This looks amazing, though orb weaver spiders is going to make me doubly terrified of them all over again.
