Early Lost Odyssey DLC? Fire up those Japanese accounts photo

As you know, we're just the tiniest bit in love with Mistwalker's epic RPG Lost Odyssey, and if you're anything like us, you might be interested in picking up the Masters Secret Script (originally a pre-order bonus) that is being made available as DLC, along with Weapon Guard II. If you want them right now, however, you're going to have to put a Japanese Xbox Live account to use.

Also available for 200 points is some DLC which includes the Killer Machine Ring, a super powerful new equippable ring that is supposed to make the game quite a cakewalk. Currently the Killer Machine ring is unavailable outside of Japan, but the good news is that the DLC will work with other versions of the game, you just need the right gamertag to get it.

I love me some Lost Odyssey, but that's way too much effort for this lazy blogger, and I don't know if I'd trade 200 points for a few items unless they were dramatically interesting. Still, if you're even more obsessed with the game than we are, you might be wanting to try it out.

I don't know if I support DLC for RPGs yet. It kinda breaks the whole idea of both DLC and the game being "complete" on launch day. Sure I'll download the free folklore packs, but hell if I'm paying for a few more quests and folks. It's like a paid cheat code :x

"It's like a paid cheat code :x"

Sounds like what another company did for a while...

Anyway, I'm all for the idea of having the DLC work with multiple regional versions of the game. Now having items that make the game a cake-walk... not so much.

I'm with jpitner, I don't agree with DLC unless it actually adds some longevity to the game like the Mass Effect DLC, unless it's free of course. 200 points for a few items doesn't seem worth it to me

I got the Master's Secret Script with Weapon Guard II in the first hour of the game. I redeemed the DLC with my GameStop preorder bonus code.

In fact, it does make the game significantly easier, but it's not broken. Kaim just blocks most normal attacks throughout the first two discs, which makes him valuable in the front row.

When I preordered, I didn't even know there *was* bonus content, much less that I'd be getting it. Nice surprise, though, I must say.

Weapon Guard 1 is already overpowered, and the game is just fine without it in the first 3 discs. After that, it's just up to you how much time you want to invest in grinding and sidequesting to be become as powerful as you want.

I guess the DLC might be useful for those people that want to go straight to the final dungeon in disc4, instead of wasting 3+ hours in one of the last side-dungeons?

I'm a bit hesitant about DLC on rpg's. Just what like jpitner said I want my rpg's complete from the start. If they wanted to add DLC they shouldn't be game breaking. They should've just added different skins for the characters.

200 MS pts, well since I pre-ordered it, the only thing I'd get would be the Machine Ring.

Ok, but how the fuck do you purchase MS points for a JP gamertag? I can't use my credit card since it's not linked to a japanese address.
Anybody got any tips?

How about a PC port instead. Come on, even Mass Effect is doing it.

As far as I know, in the new update Microsoft made it so that that things you download via your Japanese account can only be used on the Japanese account. So you can still use it, you just have to play the game logged in under your Japanese account.

I have 200 points, I have a couple Japanese Live accounts, I don't have Lost Odyssey... if only I didn't have so many other games to finish.

I don't have the game yet, but I could just as easily wait for the English version.
