Defend what?
Lots of people, myself included don't go online with their Wii, or don't buy digital games at all.
Kudos to Nitendo for thinking about the people who like discs.
I already own Super Star Ultra, Kirby's Adventure (Wii VC version and 3D version), and Dream Land 1 is basically the Spring Breeze from Super Star if I'm not mistaken.
This is a wait and see.
At first I was not sure if want, but now I do want.
I MUST HAVE IT ALL
also, I haven't bought any of these games on VC yet, so here's as good an excuse as any to finally get 'em.
"Still, there are always those folks who aren't online with their Wii or... aw, screw it. I won't defend this."
My Wii's online. That doesn't mean I'm going to buy digital games. I'd actually like to own what I pay money for, thank you very much.
....I'm weak and bad with money.
Those numbers are the price for the games if I were to buythem seperately, 370 SEK is the price I would need to pay. I'm guessing this collection will cost about 399 SEK since it's a collection and not a new game. I'd say it's worth it based on the fact I can play them all in one place with one control option.
Apart from die-hard Kirby fans, who's going to buy physical copies of these games? Look at the price of those being sold digitally and the price is considerably less.
But yes, having them all in one spot is very nice.
It's all better than what Metroid got... stupid commie bastards...
2 GB games: $8
1 NES game: $5
2 SNES games: $16
1 N64 game: $10
That's $39. This collection's price in Japan is 3,800 yen but Nintendo's American prices are always cheaper or a direct conversion so there's no way this will be priced above $40. The price for Super Mario's 25th Anniversary was $30 and you got even less content. Kirby is also nowhere near as popular as Mario so Nintendo wouldn't ask for much knowing their audience.
So $39 worth of games plus the soundtrack, booklet, and bonus mini-games (there's no way they would take those out) and it's well worth the asking price of $30-40. If you were to track down Kirby's Dream Land 3 as a physical cartridge that alone would set you back $20-30.
Anyways, I feel strangely compelled to get this, but I won't, because I know it's not worth the price for games I already own, no matter how much extra stuff they pack in there. Nice try, though, Nintendo. Maybe a Metroid one I'd get, but Mario/Kirby, no (I make an exception for Zelda's anniversary because that was Skyward Sword, a completely new game, and an excellent one at that).
I really want to support this as a Kirby fan, but I can't. I'm glad it exists, though, for the people who do want it, but I've been buying up Kirby games from the virtual console almost as soon as they go up (with the exception of the first Kirby game, but I own the cart for that). Heck, I actually bought Kirby's Adventure a second time on the 3DS.
If only they were releasing this on 3DS instead...then I would actually consider getting it. Having all of those games portable? That would be amazing.
Sonic got a whole game too, and for his damn 10th anniversary. Mario got repackaged bullshit. Sure, you could argue Metroid and Donkey Kong didn't get anything, but they're not the mascot of a company that singlehandedly revitalized the industry.
I'd argue that, even if Samus Aran isn't the mascot (which she was never intended to be), she changed the way games treated female protagonists. The reveal of Samus as a woman was (and still is) one of the biggest surprises ever in a video game. They could have done something to celebrate the 25th.
