One of the increasingly popular ways to fund independent game development is to put out an early version with a one-time fee that eventually becomes the final product through updates and revisions. SpyParty will be going this route, as announced by designer Chris Hecker.
He has opened sign-ups for the paid beta, but urges that only those who are willing to pay the $15 asking price put their email in the running. You won't have to pay until you get an actual invite, which will be going out "over the next few months."
Even in the game's current form, this decision should be a no-brainer for a lot of you. I look forward to seeing how SpyParty progresses once it's out there for the public to tinker with.

I'm interested, but $15 seems a bit high when Minecraft was $10.

THe beta is going to be PC only but he hints that this could change or that the final version will support macs.
