I love Udon. You love Udon. Capcom loves Udon. And now, apparently, a company called Eagle One Media loves Udon.
They've taken it upon themselves to release the Udon line of Street Fighter comics on DVD, adding voice acting and some subtle animation. I was expecting a full-blown anime-esque adaptation, but Eagle One have done something a bit more graceful, and really preserve Udon's awesome art style. You can check out the above video for an example. It's too bad that Gouken kind of sounds like a Baptist preacher.
I won't get into the metaphysical implications of Street Fighter as religion, but all the abstract babbling about "mastering the self" brings me right back to those sweaty Sunday mornings that I, as a child, spent alternating between asking my grandmother for bubble gum and trying to discretely fall asleep. The problem, you see, is that church pews aren't very comfortable. But I digress.
Anyway, Street Fighter: Round One -- Fight! (yes, that's what they're calling it) will be available in Febuary for $19.99 and has a run time of about 70 minutes. It adapts the first six issues of Udon's Street Fighter and there seem to be more on the way. If you're really itching for it, you can pre-order it on Amazon.
Again, I just really hope there's a shower scene.
