At least than I can appreciate the effort. I just feel like its an inevitable shift towards all games becoming moderate thrillers with dramatic cutscenes.
The higher budgets have a lot to do with this, which makes the next generation of gaming of consoles (& games in general) seem like the last hurrah.
Somebody please bitchslap whoever is making these stupid decisions at EA.
....... I'm not even sure they have evolved a central nervous system lol
Fucking EA, always making sacrificing so they can make money. Truly a symbol of greed in these times.

"noobs on battlefield are too stupid to spawn on a squad mate, and don't like using vehicles. So we will make all future maps more compact so everyone can get into the fight in a timely manner. Think 1/2 of operation metro"
"Most people would rather have a simple Mass Effect without need for worrying about classes, powers, or dialog. So are next Mass Effect will feature a soldier without any of the soldier powers in previous games. The game will also be in first person to give a sense of immersion"
I think I hear Yahtzee Crowshaw laughing uncontrollably. Probably some people over at Frictional Games too.

Congrats EA you took the top three spots for most cancerous publisher to vidya.
I think EA just wanted an excuse to jump further onto the co-op multiplayer band wagon. That's what I think.
Dead Space wasn't scary in the first place...so...well...yeah...
The only truly "scary" game I've played in a while is Amnesia.
Thanks, EA, for continuing to take steps to ensure that I would hold on to my decision to never buy any of your games again.
This is why you don't let your marketing department make creative decisions.
Yeah, it's fun to go see a horror movie together with friends, as you can look at your friends scared face and make fun of them.
But all this doesn't matter anyway, since passively watching a movie is nothing like actively playing a game.
In a scary movie, as you get immersed in the narrative, the protagonists get isolated and tension builds up. It doesn't matter whether someone is sitting next to you, as you both have no power in manipulating the scene no matter how anxious you get.
Now, if you play a game with a friend, that is a different pair of shoes as both players get to interact with the scene.
You lose the sense of isolation.
You don't feel responsible for what is about to happen as you'll be able to blame your friend, thus the scares won't get to you in the same way they'd get to you in singleplayer.
And if you don't even get to see your scared friends face, because he/she won't get scared in the first place, I argue that it is pointless to experience this kind of entertainment together.
