During my time here, there has always been one game that seems to be met with universal praise whenever it gets mentioned, and it's a game you might not immediately think of: SSX Tricky. When the conversation turns to that of snowboarding videogames, everyone always gushes their love for Tricky (and also SSX 3).
Talking to gamesindustry.biz, EA Montreal general manger Alain Tascan utters the words we've been waiting for: "Ah, SSX. We have a big catalog and we were talking about what people like. I think this is something we will look at in the future to see if it makes sense to revive the franchise."
"It's a little bit early to talk about it, but I feel ... I know internally it is a franchise that people love because it was successful and good, and it reminds me of when we were young, and I feel if the market is there and is ready for a new one then we'll consider it," Tascan continues.
Please, for the love of all things holy, EA, if you aren't going to release a new SSX title, at least bring a high-def, online SSX Tricky to PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade. Do it for the dying orphans, alright?
Pleeeeeeeeeeeease revist this franchise. But do it right.
Also,
FREEEENCH TOAST AND SYRUUUUUUUUUUP!
End. Of. Discussion.
They really do need to make SSX 5 now. (Call it SSX 4 and lets pretend on tour and Blur for the Wii didn't happen.)
Also, IF this does happen, and you make it more like SSX3 then the others in the series, I will:
A) Love you forever
B) Buy every other sports game that comes out that year that you make
C) Buy every SSX game I don't already own (So, yes, I will finally pick up Blur and re-buy On Tour)
D) Name my child Psymon and get a tattoo of the Uber-meter going down my spine
maybe i'll go pick up tricky and 3 so I can catch up and praise it as much as I praise the first game.
and for goodness sakes while we're at it, lets see some NBA Street Vol.2 ported! I actually enjoyed the original and Vol.2 considering the other "street" style games suck outside those 2.
Which board let you bend space and time? I don't fucking know.
3 was a little more fair, plus the Platinum medals meant you had to know what the hell you were doing. The mountain run was too damn sick, every other SSX game previous and after must bow down to that design call - and I played them all. #3 had it right, if only it could mix your own soundtrack from songs from your own iPod or something...then that would be the shit. For real.
I'd rock Wu-Tang, Atmosphere, Datarock, Daft Punk, Slipknot, Rush, Zep and many, many more...nothing better than making your own musical call down the side of a mountain at 80+ mph.
Must check out...
SSX 3 is my favorite thing on disc that I always forget exist. I remember waiting to hear about a sequel when the new consoles were announced and after a while just giving up hope.
Between Skate and this EA is reviving my tween love of extreme sport game.
You MUST join the dTunes crew.
Really love that game, what it did with music, how it put together the mountain, the characters, the controls, the ridiculous upgrades and the glut of PERSONALITY AND CHARM packed into that game.
Blur, though technically sound, has absolutely 0 personality by comparison. Its jarring.
Hell, just make a new SSX game that doesn't fail like Blur and On Tour.
3 was ok and after that it went to shit.
The voice acting was superior (using brand-name celebs and introducing me to Bif Naked for the first time ever), the music was dope, the characters were dynamic as there ever has been, and the level design had so many hidden/alternate paths it was impossible not to love. The behind the scenes for all the characters and their voices, the music, the design, and everything else was icing on the cake.
I'd buy it again for $10 on PSN--especially since it won't work well on my BC PS3--thing freezes up after only a few minutes play. This holds true for many EA games I have from the PS2 library. Tricky for me is the pinnacle of snowboarding gaming.
Tricky is the only reason I still have my play station 2 XD
Bring back SSX please :D
Even if it is just a Arcade game with online play :D:D
