EA teams with Adidas for Need for Speed: The Run promo photo

Electronic Arts has announced a partnership with shoemaker Adidas to promote Need for Speed: The Run. Adidas has provided the shoes protagonist Jack wears when he gets out of his car to dash through quick-time event sequences, the new "Need for Speed: The Run Top X," and you can wear them too. Adidas will be selling the exclusive and limited edition Need for Speed branded merchandise in their retail locations soon.

The first fifty pairs of the shoes went on sale today at the Adidas flagship store in Chicago with an event to celebrate the launch at the store this coming Wednesday. Future events are planned for San Francisco (October 27th) and New York (November 15th) leading to the release of the game.

Need for Speed: The Run. Get it? Marketers are sooooo clever.

Bullshit trainers to go with a likely bullshit game. Makes sense.

Trust me you won't need those to run away from that bad game.

Look like Adidas Classic - Top Tens rebranded as Top X's. Other minor changes - different sole, no "rim" around the toe

Absolutely love Top Tens, incredibly comfortable without being ridiculously modern or over the top. A classic shoe. Not so fussed on the "Patent leather style gloss" , but I really like the slight redesign. Different colorways (Red w/- White highlights being my preferred) and I'd buy two pairs (to wear for the next couple of years).

Sports shoes haven't looked cool since the 80s. Ugly ugly design.

Are they threatening people with those shoes to get them to play that game?? I'll be perfectly honest- I didn't read it, but those horrid shoes compelled me to comment all the same.

EA: (Grabs my foot by the heel with one hand, brandishing ugly shoe in the other)

EA: PLAY NEED FOR SPEED OR WE'LL GIVE YOU THESE SHOES!!

ME: PLEASE GOD NO PLEASE OK I'LL PLAY IT!! *sob*

Actually the shoes are not in the game. EA messed up and it got too late to the development cycle, so yeah, the shoes only exist in real life.
