Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

This past Monday, Electronic Arts held a little press event in San Francisco they called "EA Spring Break." Cute name, we gotta give 'em that. Unfortunately, no one from Destructoid was in attendance, because our invitation must have gotten lost in the mail

Our friends at GameTrailers were on hand, and came back with a pretty solid and detailed interview with Valve's Doug Lombardi about their forthcoming Xbox 360 and PC first-person shooter, Left 4 Dead. If you weren't pumped about this game before, I think this just might do it. I will say that visually, the game is looking a bit dated, but if graphics were everything then [insert ignorant Wii joke here].

Electronic Arts were also showing off some other titles, including Skate It for the Wii and Nintendo DS, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Heroes. Check out some more videos of these titles after the jump.

I believe L4D is for the PC and Xbox 360, not the Xbox 360 and PC. Alphabetically, P comes before X.

Just sayin'.

I agree with king3vbo.

Also, as much as I am looking forward to Left 4 Dead, I am REALLY upset by the fact the zombies seem to have (hidden) health bars and can be taken down without a direct headshot. It'd be nasty to be able to blow their limbs off a la Soldier of Fortune and still have them crawling around to get you until you hit 'em in the head with a bullet or melee weapon. Speaking of which, does the game offer melee weapons? 'Cause it should. Knives don't run out of ammo.

Also agrees with king3vbo

@B-Rad

Yeah that upset me too. Also the sheer amount of loitering zombies that don't chase you, which I hadn't seen too much of in the early vids. I don't mind seeing a couple lazy zombies, but I don't want a run and gun target practice.

Looks like I'll be playing on Hard...

L4D looks soooo bad graphically, oh my god it takes so much away from realism and believability.

Left 4 Dead looks great, my only hope is that it's released for PS3 like The Orange Box was for PS3 and Xbox360.

YES! A Valve game I don't have to mod to get zombies in it. Zombies right outta the box!

@poonster

You can play through the campaigns with the AI if you want, no worries. Personally that's what I'm doing before I even go online, to adjust my aiming so that I'm not constantly shooting my friends in the back of the head.

Was anyone else kinda struck by the ignorance of Mr Lombardi claiming that it was all Valve's idea when Turtle Rock pre-buyout did most of the creative leg work.

There's many MANY FPS games/Mods where both sides are different (Alien V Predator, Tremulous, Natural Selection, They Hunger, ET:QW). Granted it's mostly PR speil but credit should be given where it's due >:/

Also SWAT 4 did Co-Op of this scale..a long ass time ago..and hell Halo 3 did 4 player. Perfect Dark did the whole Counter-Agent thing.

I still really want this game though...

Left 4 Dead looks so fine. So sexy. I'm not too keen on the bosses though.

That guy from the Skate-It video seems like he's drunk and improvising.

Turtle rock is a Valve studio, so it's entirely kosher for Valve to claim Turtle Rock work as their own, because it IS.

Also Left 4 Dead looks absolutely fantastic. It looks like they've significantly improved the shadow effects just for this game, and I love the reaction movements of the zombies when they get shot. The only thing I felt looked wrong in the video was when the boss infected pins down the player and starts clawing him and blood splatters everywhere, it splats on the camera but not on the environment around the player that I saw.
I hope they'll add in blood decals on the floor from that attack. I'd imagine so.
