EA Sports/Gillette contest recap: LOL SPORTZ [update] photo

Well, it’s all over but the crying. Last week, we gave away five different EA Sports games, and we had a surprisingly impressive response from the community. Before I go through all the winners again, I should probably tell you who won our last giveaway, in which the prize was a copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 for the Xbox 360. After much flip-flopping, we thought that the photo submitted by MaxVest Polish Hill featured the cutest tiger! (It’s available for all to see in the gallery.) Congrats, sir -- send your address to samit[at]destructoid[dot]com, and we’ll send you the game!

Here’s a list of all the contests and their respective winners:

Day 1: Ballistic
Day 2: Butmac
Day 3: Agent Raz
Day 4: power-glove
Day 5: MaxVest Polish Hill

Thanks for all your entries (and your moral support), Dtoiders! All of a sudden, I feel reinvigorated -- maybe you’ll see more simple sports game contests like this in the future! And if you’re looking for more information on what this EA Sports/Gillette contest is all about, check out the jump.

[Update: As it turns out, MaxVest didn’t read the original contest post very carefully, so he didn’t realize that the copy of the game is for the Xbox 360. Mr. Vest doesn’t actually own a 360, so he graciously offered up his prize to the runner-up, who was Polish Hill! Thanks for being such a sweetie, Maxie -- but next time, be sure to know what you’re getting into, will ya?]

The full details can be found here, but in a nutshell, you compete in an Xbox Live tournament with any of five different EA Sports titles (Madden NFL 09, NBA Live 09, NASCAR 09, FIFA Soccer 09, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09) for bragging rights, as well as prizes to certify your sports gaming prowess. There are nine weekly Qualifying Rounds, running from October 31-December 28, a week of leaderboard qualifying in a Knock Out Round from January 4-11, 2009, and a Global Competition around February 3, 2009, held in Orlando, Florida.

There are tournaments in North America, Asia, and Europe -- the Global Competition will feature one winner per game from each of the three regions. Those fifteen winners will be flown to Orlando to compete against each other, and the winners will have a chance to play against the Gillette Champions: Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter, Thierry Henry, Denny Hamlin, and Roger Federer! Pretty cool, eh? Weekly winners get a Gillette razor and a 3-month Xbox Live Gold subscription; weekly first prize winners receive a Gillette shave kit, a copy of EA’s FaceBreaker, a 12-month Gold subscription, and 1,600 MS Points. Oh, and in addition to being flown to Orlando, the finalists will get a shave kit, 3 EA Sports games, a 12-month Gold subscription, and 4,000 MS Points.

Shit, Samit, I'm an asshole. I didn't read the rules, I just thought I was in a drawing to win the game. Without an Xbox 360, entering the tournament is going to be pretty rough for me. Could you give my spot to the cute tiger runner-up instead?

Yeah, I'm incorrigible. But in my defense, that was more than 500 words and an external link to explain the contest. I saw cute tiger in bold and reacted.

In my prosecution: Your Honor, this man is a known sheep molester.

I was the only one who bothered to enter all these Gilette contests and in consequence the only one who lost them all. Congratulations to Polish Hill, but it is too bad Max didn't run a Cblog contest for the prize and make people do something that was unnattainable to win, like making you comment 200 times but not consecutively to win the prize. Woulda been funny.

I feel for ya Atlas, though I only took place in the last two days.

Apparently mentally retarded tigers aren't cute, maybe someone should have put that into the official rules, would have save me and google a lot of hassle ;)

Also very kind of MaxVest to be kind and offer his prize to someone, instead of trade it in for credit, like I would have done ha ha.

Good times.

Thanks MaxVest, fortunately I do have a 360 and it hasn't even red ringed yet. I'll be sure to pop this one in. Maybe this year I'll give the three click swing a rest.
