The FIFA series has been around for a long time but today EA Sports announced something unique in the franchise's history. They've signed a deal with English Premier League team Manchester City to deliver exclusive, club-specific content to fans with FIFA 12. Despite FIFA's huge popularity in Europe, I certainly can't remember EA making any exclusive deals with other clubs.
At their EA Sports campus in Vancouver, the publisher claimed the deal was "unprecedented in both its scale and scope" and the exclusive content will "bring Manchester City fans across the globe closer to the team they love." EA is promising full 360-degree 3D head scans of the first team players along with Manchester City "match simulations" which will presumably be nothing but City victories over their local rivals Manchester United.
So great news, if you're part of the blue side of Manchester. I hope Manchester City has gotten a good deal here; maybe they could use some of the cash to get Mario Ballotelli a bib he can wear properly.
FIFA 12 is due for a September 30th release.
