Take a guess how many expansion packs there have been since Electronic Arts released The Sims 2 some four years ago? Go on, guess. I'll wait.
Answer: seven. There have been seven expansion packs available at retail for The Sims 2. EA is a huge fan of even numbers, and will be releasing the eighth and final expansion pack for the series, The Sims 2: Apartment Life, on August 26. EA were showing off the game at their software showcase yesterday in San Francisco and well ... we didn't really stop to look at it.
But the expansion is exactly what it sounds like, adding a new pre-made neighborhood to the game that includes a bunch of apartments, taking The Sims' daily interaction to a whole new level. Trust me, I live in an apartment, and neighbors that live so close to you are the pits. Additionally, some new social interactions including high fives, kisses, and hugs have been added ... and I have no intention of doing any of that stuff to my neighbors in real life. I hate them all.
Randomly, Apartment Life also adds "witches" and magic -- both good and evil -- to The Sims 2. While on the surface it may not be apparent why, I think I have a good idea. There have been many times when I thought the b**tch cackling at her television programs downstairs was familiar with eye of newt and dragon scales.
I really need to move.
You'd be suprised. I know a few who own all the stuff packs as well.
They are wrong.
