EA has partnered up with Hasbro to bring the Hasbro board and toy line to videogame consoles. One of the major deals from this partnership is seeing the ever popular Monopoly game come to the Wii, PS2, and Xbox 360 this October.

The classic Monopoly you all know and love will of course remain intact along with additional boards and themes to help spice things up. Brand new boards will include a futuristic board, cardboard board, jungle board, cheese board and more. All of the pieces will change to reflect the theme (such as origami movers on the cardboard board) and even Mr. Monopoly's clothes will reflect the current board theme.

Speaking of which, Mr. Monopoly will be on the board to help and guide the players giving helpful suggestions. This Monopoly is also using the long lost rule of Monopoly, where if a player doesn't purchase a property they land on, the property will then go up for auction and players will have to out bid each other if they want a particular property.

There will also be a speed mode broken up with mini-games, Mario Party style. Players will be given random property based on dice rolls and after each player receives their property, players will be taken to a mini-game that will help determine how successful they are in the next round.

What else is there to say? It's the Monopoly you all know and love except without all the annoying stuff like setting up, cleaning up, and worrying about people cheating. Monopoly will be $29.99 for the PS2 and $39.99 for the Xbox 360 and Wii.

Aren't all Monopoly boards technically cardboard boards?

40 bucks! I would get it if it was 20-30 bucks for the Wii.

Who the hell loves monopoly?

1) The game seems to never end.
2) The banker ALWAYS cheats
3) Kids hate the game
4) It causes more family arguements than all the others combined.
5) IT's boring
6) Two people always want to be the the racing car and argue forever about it (as if it makes a difference)

The only decent thing about this virtual version is the all the bits and pieces can't go missing (or have they included that too?).

Monopoly - XBLA:good idea Retail:bad idea.

C'mon what the fuck? With all the board games on the arcade you really think people are going to rush out and buy this? Goddammit EA.

Also
3) Kids hate the game
My sister once threw a temper tantrum because I wouldn't finish a game of Monopoly with her. Of course now she's older she'd probably laugh at the mere suggestion of the game.

Wow, not retail material. And not more than $10.

I really am excited about this game...but not for $40 and only if the 360 version allows for online multi-player as I'd love to get in a few games with my nephew.

Does everyone else on staff really hate you? Why do they make you write about this crap? Do you need a hug?

I wonder what will take longer, the game or entering three friend codes so you don't have to play it in soul-crushing isolation?

That screenshot does not sell the game at all. Jessica (that cock-tease whore) has almost twice as much money as the other three players combined. WTF?

What's with the Wii Tax? Not like it's bringing anything to the table that the PS2 can't do.

Royalty rates are cheaper on the PS2 than the Wii PS3 or 360.

You lost a few gamer points for misnaming Mr. Moneybags.

@ SysiphusRock: Actually his name was originally Rich Uncle Pennybags. They renamed him Mr. Monopoly a few years back.

I loved playing the SNES version of Monopoly back in the day, but this really should be a XBLA/WiiWare release priced around $10. $39.99 is way too much to charge for it.

Well, I guess I'll get it for the PS2 and pray my PS3 plays it. I love the hell outta the game and I hardly have anyone to play with where I am cuz I'm actually pretty good at it. Usually playing with me makes the game short cuz I'm one of those types that rolls the dice and knows exactly where my piece is supposed to go (i.e. I don't need to count my spaces).

Guess I played this game way too much in the past, eh?
