Electronic Arts had a Wii port of Dead Space 2 game planned, along with a follow up to the utterly awful The Simpsons Game. Both titles have been scrapped in favor of other projects. I'm no analyst, but I'm willing to bet that nothing of value was lost.
The news comes via the LinkedIn profiles of EA designer Gerry Sakkas and freelance developer Matt Spriggens, who list the cancelled games among their work.
Seriously, is anybody upset over this? Show of hands, please.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Oh, and even with all it's many shortcomings, I still found the Simpsons Game to be pretty funny, and co-op with my little sister was fun.
I have the Simpson's game sitting on my shelf unopened, I suppose I'll try it out one of these days.
I assume that Eurocom would of been working on it, since they did the last one and they just wrapped up Golden Eye on the Wii. So they know how to make good games on the Wii. Its certain not a huge lose, but it would of been cool to see how a proper dead space would work on the Wii. RE:4 was awesome, so this probably would of been just as good!
As for Dead Space 2 on the Wii, I do agree, nothing of value was lost.
I think it's funny that there's people here hoping for a DS game on the 3DS. I don't see that happening. EA seems to have quite a problem with Nintendo platforms, even publicly accusing Nintendo of not supporting them. They seem to bet on the iPad/iPhone, not the 3DS.
Even though The Simpsons was a really.....I don't know...basic?simple? game I still found it amusing and probably would have picked up the planned sequel when it found its way to the bargain bin.
As much as I see why some people enjoy on rail shoorters I enjoy RE4 on my wii, and I did not bother pickong up Dead Space Exstraction wii because it really had no depth to the game and it cost $50. Do you know what I have bought with $50? The orange box and SC2 both have a large amount of types of games you can plan and pleanty of hours packed with fun gameplay.
so yeah they did not loose much, but they could have made much much more......dam EA
RIP westwood
I thought extraction was great on atmosphere and offered some cool ideas such as freezing enemies and slowly picking them apart - seriously, that alone was a fine evolution of the tense, old-school, slow zombies in your face gameplay of RE.
What I didn't like so much was the small amount of content available... a meatier (not on rails) sequel would have been much appreciated.
Now I know Nintendo's intent lately has been that they needed the resources and man power to go towards the 3DS launch, and now that thats over with they're probably gearing up for the next phase of their 2011 plan, which probably includes something big for the conventions this summer, but other sites (well one, Kotaku) seem intent on implying that Nintendo's killing the system all together by not releasing any games for it in the month of may let alone releasing many games at all in that month (they've got 4 games being released that month, which doesn't sound bad considering the huge launch they just did, let alone the crap the their entire hope country is having to face).
Personally I'm waiting to pass judgment on that overeager theory sometime in June, when either Nintendo picks up the pace again or announces something big at E3.
Nintendo just revealed the following game for Wii, to be released this May ;)
