Poor old golfing millionaire Tigers Woods can't seem to catch a break; plummeting to number 46 in golf's world rankings and now there's the news that EA seems to have botched the PC version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters so badly that they're offering refunds for disgruntled golf fans.
A thread appeared on Reddit slamming the PC version's "awful graphics" and the "non-existent" single-player. The thread author says the online multiplayer is only available through EA's paid subscription model, which merely offers a free trial for three months. Looking at the screenshots, it's hard to argue with the game's lacking visual quality, but taking out core features seems like a real poor move.
After creating some threads in EA's forums (which seem to have been subsequently silenced), Eurogamer reports that upset fans should get in touch with EA Support through the live chat and air grievances there. As someone who played a lot of Tiger Woods PGA 2003 on the GameCube, I can tell you these graphics look really bad. It seems like EA are focused on their Tiger Woods free-to-play game and probably shouldn't have released this shoddy port.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Reddit.
Then again, it looks like EA didn't, either.
I don't own a console so I would love to have a competent golf game on PC. There was PGA Tour 08, which was simply okay, but there hasn't been any high profile games since (and 08 wasn't even that high profile.)
Sad that we have to go to a console to get our virtual golf fix.
I have no problem with golf. I just consider it as much of a sport as water polo or ribbon twirling.
Tl;dr
Soccer > Amriicen sportz
Sarcasm
If someone is dribbling on a field for a few hours, we take him to the hospital in the states.
Soccer proves the rest of the world is still slow compared to us. Bad economy or not, when the NFL was on lockout, everyone knew about it. When soccer players get "fouled," flopping around on the field like a salmon out of water, that makes me wanna get all red card on their ass.
Also, PC gamers don't have analog sticks. How could they enjoy a golfing game anyway?
What?

Same. I think all diving should be a couple of games suspension, minimum.
But golf games are very good. Except on pc apparently
You forgot:
"USA!
USA!
USA!"
Since, you know, you're acting like an Americunt.
EA should be utterly ashamed of themselves; this has to be the most breathtakingly-brazen display of complete disregard for its paying customers by any games publisher yet. This is a transparent attempt to fleece golf fans (who tend to be older) into paying twice as much as the price of the core game via additional, borderline compulsory DLC. This is surely a dishonest business practice and there might even be a good case for a legal challenge.
All this, and somehow the combined resources of EA's development teams have failed completely to produce a game that looks anything other than mediocre and decidedly sub-par - it's actually quite embarrassing to look at, with late 90's/early 2000's style graphics, course narration that drops out on the intro to every course and such a limited set of play modes one wonders how on earth the publisher could have had the sheer cheek to even attempt to charge full-price for this game. Just how does a top-tier publisher conspire to produce such a total car-crash of a game in this day and age? That really does take some doing.
And utter disaster of a game - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
From what has been said elsewhere, the PC version of "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12" may actually be a version of Tiger Woods Online.
It isn't just that the online multiplayer is a paid service, or that you only get a three month free trial, but that the online multiplayer *is* Tiger Woods Online.
I HATE EA.
I HATE EA.
