Here's what get's me: nothing is different but the name. You still have U.S. forces fighting middle eastern terrorists. But because they are now called "Opposing Forces" it's magically OK.

They changed it cause those same people who complained are the same ones who helped them develop previous titles for historical accuracy and such, I suppose.

This is hilarious to me. EA calls them opposing force, so now people are OK with it. The sad thing is a lot of people who complained honestly don't give a damn. They just wanted their 15 minutes of fame to seem important. Doesn't matter anyway this game will be mediocre.

Almost made me cancel, but then again I didn't really have plans to play much multiplayer anyway. Also is the name change only for multiplayer or is it in single player too?

This is far worse than having left them in. Regardless of whether you care about if they were in there or not, this just reinforces the notion that if you get your 15 minutes in the media and declare "THEM THAR EV-UHLS IN THEM VIDJA GAEMS" that you can get EA to do anything you want.

I think one of the kittens has a lazy eye... Oh, on topic! It's kind of sad that they felt the need to sub names this late in the game. I don't want to get into the political aspect of this, but I feel that what was announced should remain. That's just me. Being too politically correct tends to dumb things down and hampers creativity in the long run.
On one hand, it sucks they changed their tune. On the other, I get the feeling they did it with good reason since it has taken them so long to make the decision. They likely spent a long time weighing the pros and cons before arriving at their final choice.

Did they not learn anything from that episode of South Park where Cartman tried to cancel the airing of Family Guy? As Kyle said, if we keep up simply cutting out everything, people are gonna demand that more things would need to be cut out. All this is, is bowing down to the whingers who thought that playing as the terrorists is bad. No one complained when you played as the Nazis in multiplayer.
my concern is that this is gonna be the beginning of the change. i can see it now. the american side has more health and better auto aim (it's a console, there is always auto aim) while the opposing fore now has less hp, can't run as fast, and generally sucks. also whenever an american falls, instant invincibility for the for of his team until there there are ten opposing force dead for the one slain american

In all seriousness though, I don't understand why it's not okay for video games to explore a contemporary topic. Sure, killing/playing as Germans, Russians, Japanese, etc is alright, but it's somehow not okay for a video game's theme to be relevant to the present day?
I feel for the families of the Soldiers. I really do. Thank you Soldiers and Vets. But the families may be forgetting why they went to fight. Freedom. The right to express yourself. The right that lets me type this. The right to let a family protest. Please dont let what they fought for fall by the waist side. Please Remember those that gave and say thank you and show thanks.
