Meh, matket will bear it or not. Thankfully I don't do the call of battlefield thing.
Seriously though, these guys have to stop overspending on budgets. They don't seem too impressed with how much BF3 brought in, apparently convinced they would hit the 10 mil range to rival COD.
Also the recent BioWare blunders, if you will, have not helped the stock price.
If you want to develop games for the money, you cannot spend the amount it would cost to sell 2+ mil copies on development. There's so little room to gain. Especially when you lose customer satisfaction from having to cut costs in the end and down the road to save a project from hemorrhaging more cash.
Sales[Word of mouth (Happy customers - Unsatisfied Customers)] - (Manufacturing Costs + Development Costs + Ongoing Costs) = Profit
That doesn't even factor in DLC production, pricing and many other factors such as the cost to publish on a console. My point is that there is many more ways to go wrong than there are to go right.
I suppose it doesn't help that I haven't seen an original IP come from them lately that has not been a gameplay clone of another great selling IP.
Dante's Inferno - God of War
Star Wars: The Old Republic - World of Warcraft
Dead Space - Resident Evil 4
The Godfather - Grand Theft Auto 3
Army of Two - Gears of War
I'm avoiding putting some others now that I'm looking considering Crysis, Shadows of the Damned, and a few others aren't necessarily "in house" or generally overseen/pushed by EA.
I think though that there isn't a lot of money to also be made from putting your finger in everyone else's pie. That is unless you do it better, and everyone else knows it.
I want to play A NORMAL FUCKING GAME not a game of rush with 500 tickets or Conquest that lasts 1.5hrs.
next thing you know you will have to spend real money to unlock the guns...... oh crap i might have just gave them even more dlc...... aLtho it probably wont be as bad a Graces dlc 4 dollars for a costume..... and they didnt bring them all over either.
Sorry I wasn't stating that one game was objectively better than the other, just doing a quick comparison.
Personally though I'd say: RE4>DS1>RE5 However I haven't played DS2 so I cannot add that in. However I agree if RE continues down the same path it recently started on, I'd have to wholly agree that DS3 will be miles better than RE6 from first glance.
And players actually asked for this shit? Appalling. There is no defending EA on this one.
Join Rush game > see 200-500 tickets > leave game > repeat.
...or, join Andy Dixon's game > teabag with authority > repeat .
You can search "P24" and find some default rules EA run servers, but the map selection isn't the best.
Yeah.. Remember the days where we used to bitch if we didn't get free multiplayer on the PC.. Or if there was even the threat that mulitplayer wouldn't be free.. or even simply for allowing us LAN functions..
Oh wait, that last one was just a few weeks ago for Starcraft players ..
But no, we're content to just throw money at every situation like these companies want us too, when most of us really don't have it, because its easier, or "we can't do anything about it" or whatever other slap-fight way gamers want to justify caving into a publishers bullshit.
- I have been kicked after joining.
- I have been kicked after landing a kill on a certain person (The one running the server), who was also winning but had no skill.
- I have been in 3 blowtorch only battles in large epic maps.
- I have been in a 700 700 flag match that never ended, especially since I was in the losing team getting spawn killed at the default start point because we were locked in.
- I have been in games where the map rotation was terran highway, and operation metro, repeat repeat repeat.
This is absolute fucking bullshit. Was the point of the online pass to cover costs for people playing on their servers? Isn't that what they said? Where are those fucking servers now? Peoplay are having to put in an online pass to get into this fucking bullshit that is their multiplayer.. That is horrible.
I was going to buy all 3 expansion packs as well when they came out, not anymore since I can't even play the game.
EA has taken what I felt was the best online multiplayer experience I have ever had in my 2 decades of gaming, and turned it into the worst experience and absolute waste of time that it is now.
I don't understand.
What complete and utter bullshit. This is their way of saying "In order for us to do what you want (and paid for), we have to take (free) things away. But, please, keep paying for those servers!"
It seems like EA has gone out of their way the last couple of years to do nothing but fuck their user base.
Really, one should ask, if BF3 were doing so great, why isn't anyone else (that is incredibly successful) doing this? If Activision doesn't do it with CoD then that alone should illustrate just how desperate EA has become. This is just a desperate cash grab. BF3 is finished.
Someone is paying for bandwidth and the pc, I'm logging in for free. If I choose to set up my own server and pay for the bandwidth, it's then free for others.
However, I do agree with the notion that the online pass concept gets dropped when you move to pay servers.
wow ea...
@ Chris Carter,
no kidding dude... 'rip off dlc' or not... Activision supports the shit outta that game, you know the community will be there for at LEAST a year, aaaand it actually looks like a decent enough game this time around!
I like how this kind of thing was never a problem with PC gaming. But as soon as suckers errr console gamers are involved they start charging for everything and getting lazy.
