I fucking hate gamers.
At least we have a semi-official Destructoid server on the 360 thanks to ChillyBilly, complete with no heavy-handed administrating and vanilla game settings. Just search for "Destructoid" in your server browser and it'll feel just like old times again :)
Wasn't one of the 'arguments' for the online pass to help cover server costs?
And it falls on our head when companies use this to justify moves like these in the future. I need a new hobby.
And black ops 2 looks real good all of a sudden.
Typically the maps rotate between Rush and Conquest.
Getting kicked because the admin doesn't like losing to you is such a pain.
That is incorrect, you can play on any server for free. It's just that the servers that were originally there that were provided by EA and DICE have now been replaced by servers that certain players have opted to rent from EA to have more control on their game.
What EA should have done was provide the new rental servers along with the old DICE and EA servers that they previously had running, instead of passing the buck of server costs on it's customers. The excuse they came up with is complete bullshit.
Seriously though, fuck you EA. I don't even play on console and this pisses me off. Why do people still buy/play EA games. They've turned every good franchise into an despicable cash grab. Any hope for future titles from them is lost, because I'm going to have to pay $200 for a $60 game.
The f*cking match becomes a base rape after a while, and it is borderline psychotic to play the same map for hours on end.
And the frigging server browser doesn't show tickets, of all the useless info it shows, that f*cking vital info is missing. If I have half an hour to play, it takes me 15 minutes to find a decent server with decent amount of tickets.
F******ck!
Thanks for inadvertantly clarifying your intentions EA. You're truly earning that "Most Hated Company in North America" award.
What happened to you know... CASUALLY ENJOYING THE GAME.
This is why I won't buy any of these samey ass crappy games, and EA can suck it. The sheer amount of disrespect being handed out to consumers and developers alike these days is off the charts.
Still... people are inherently stupid and will keep taking it, I'll just stick with Nintendo who treats me like a human being.
Okay not quite the same but I think its a step in the right direction. Allowing users to run their own dedicated servers is why so many PC games enjoy a long life.
If EA opened this upto 3rd party servers it'd be great. Yea it sucks that some admins suck, but find a community you like to play with, and favorite that shit.
Excuse me. I need to rent a server.
Naw I'll let it go. Though I wonder how that legally sits when multiplayer is the main focus of the game? Does it state on the box you'd have to rent a server to play?
Regardless, vote with your walets folks.
What the hell is EA and Dice smoking, I want to make sure to keep it away from my kids (that I do not have >.>) to ensure they do not wind up with the same level of brain damage.
Why would I ever pay an EA game again, if I am wanting to play multiplayer? Apparently the official servers go the way of the dodo within a years time. Then you are left to whatever random dudebro admin who feels justified in kicking whoever they do not like. Bah! BAH! BAHHHH I SAY!!!!
Whiiiiich prolly means no dead space 3 for me. But that also means no sale for them.
Fucking. Hilariouis. Need I say more?
The problem is not in letting people pay for private servers, but killing official servers because there's multiple private ones now. Regardless of the number of private servers currently, it's really greedy of EA to simply turn official servers down. Imagine if this becomes a tendency and publishers simply decide to let players pay for online servers, like many seem happy to do.
