EA Denmark lets Brutal Legend soundtrack slip (Update) photo

I don't know if the soundtrack for a game has every truly been "hotly anticipated," but if one had to choose the most "hotly anticipated" soundtrack to a game ever it might just be Brütal Legend's as the entire game is about rock and/or roll and features a plethora of heavy metal music stars who would make the soundtrack truly epic. Now that we've established that the soundtrack is indeed "hotly anticipated" the news that EA Denmark seems to have leaked the songs present in the game should get you pretty excited. The Denmark branch of EA posted the song tracks on their site, revealing that the game will feature over 100 songs from legends of metal.

You can check out the list below the jump, but there is a strange lack of Iron Maiden in the game for some reason. There's plenty of Ozzy, Riot, Ratt and Judas Priest though, so I think it's safe to say we're all going to have some pretty cramped necks from headbanging non-stop. Can't wait until Rocktober.

(Update: Looks like it has all been confirmed and with a sexy quote from Tim Schafer: "This soundtrack took years to put together as we wanted to represent every genre of Metal, and also have the perfect music for every epic moment in the game. It's designed to be loved by Metal fans, and for those who are not, it will either convert them or make their heads explode ... or both.")

If this tracklist is true, then brutal legend out-metals guitar hero metallica 10:1.

I think I got a semi.

A metal semi.

This is officially the most metal game ever. I never thought that Mirrorthrone would ever be in a video game, let alone my favorite song by him. I could do without some of the songs, but I almost feel guilty for saying that because this is the most solid setlist I've seen in any game. Ea better use their magic powers to put some of these in Rock Band

Eh, despite my anticipation for this game, it's not because of the soundtrack. I've never been a huge fan of metal, but I am a huge fan of Double Fine.

The lack of Maiden and Metallica is sad. Metallica is understandable because of their exclusivity bullshit with Activision, but Maiden has shown EA a lot of love recently with the RB pack.

I wish there was more melodic death metal (Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, At the Gates), but In Flames and Children of Bodom are still fucking awesome.

If the game had Opeth, then it would be truly perfect. Although I could see that the softer parts of Opeth songs may not fit as well as they could.

But I'm nitpicking.

I'm even more sold. I think I may go preorder this tonight.

There are a lot of weak tracks on this game that I wouldn't exactly classify as metal like Static X, Marilyn Manson, and Kiss. But a game with Carcass, Emperor, Enslaved, and freakin Manowar is definitly awesome. And the inclusion of really good unknown bands like Bishop of hexen, Apostasy, Coroner really makes this top notch. I just wish they would have put some Mastodon from Leviathon, could you imagine an epic battle with Moby Dick set to Aqua Dementia?!

I wouldn't really consider any of that music apart from Malmsteen as metal. Especially not Aya Hirano I mean she's hot and all, but she's more pop than rock, and definitely not metal though.
