FUCKING NO D':
Best racing game ever (next to Rallisport Challenge 2 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted of course).
Good night, sweet prince ;_;7
Boom Blox Bash Party is going to be missed as well. I might need to load up on some user levels before it bites the dust.
Oh yes, and another reason to say no to online passes. "Less than 1%" is still in the hundreds at least, right? For some of those, in the thousands. C'mon, EA.
It's fun for what it is. Well worth the $20 you'd pay for it now. It does get pretty repetitive, though, as every mission is "blow shit up" unless it's a half-assed stealth mission. Good, not great.
Probably should've kept playing.
Regarding the rest I have a simple universal answer - "OH NO EA IS ENDING ONLINE PLAY FOR A BUNCH OF GAMES NOBODY PLAYS ANYMORE"
I bought Battlefield 2 from XBLIVE solely for the online part, only to find the servers had been shut down and i had wasted my money.
Not. Fucking. On.
Absolute waste of money.
Remove these games from stores and online services if you're going to shut down the servers and finish supporting them!!!!
I wonder what will happen in the future when say Kingdoms of Amalur and Mass Effect 3 servers come down since they have locked single player content.
My internet was out this morning and you just couldn't play ME2 after that.
Welcome to the glorious future of online passes and DRM where you can't play something you paid for! This disgusting practice needs to end.
I can understand if maintaining servers is an issue, but give the communities for these games another option instead of just saying well too bad.
Well, guess we need to find a new game. I guess Blades of Time will be the new hotness...
I don't think they require any server, but I could be wrong. Giant Bomb threw in THPS3 (might have been 4...) a few months back and the online for that still worked just fine. Like no shit, it was kinda funny/cool. They didn't have to do anything special to their consoles or any of that bs either.
If the rescue mission you're talking about is the one I'm thinking of then it was a right bastard. I tried that frustrating mission three times over the course of a week. On the third time I finally completed it but the game froze before I got the rescuee to the hideout. I rage quit and never picked it up again. It's a shame, because the first few hours of that game were absolutely great.
HAH. No. Revenge was actually good. Actually, it was amazing.
Shame, thought it was one of the good points for actually paying for Live. Look at something like Race Driver GRiD which shut down on PC and PS3 because of the contract with the guys that host their servers ending or something. Yet jumping on Live, people still play that game quite a lot. Probably due to the destruction races.
It doesn't matter if the games are shite or not: what a bunch of bullshit.
wow...really?...wow.
that sounds absolutely amazing ...how nice of you sharing this info.
@EA
thats why i trade in every single game using passes (Battefield espec.) cause they wont last...
Also, modern gaming is shit.
Yes they require a master server to route and connect all the players together. Games without dedicated servers are not really "peer to peer", instead they are called "listen servers" where the game server runs as the same process as the client, ie the game. Peer to peer is more like a webbed-connection where all users would *technically* be a server.
Dedicated servers still need a master server to show up on game lists but a player knows the address of the dedicated server they can still join it without a master server.
@SephirothX: Yeah, because who gives a damn about those few people who bought/still play those games right? It's not like they're you! Way to miss the point, buddy.
it's especially fucked up given the fact that Saboteur is singleplayer-only title and Midnight Club is a DLC that's on Marketplace servers, OWNED BY Microsoft - it's not like EA is losing money on this. it's especially pissing me off given the fact that EA and other companies are often still selling multiplayer content for those titles even after they closed down servers for online play.
