It is really sad for the gaming community to see how EA is misusing their biggest franchises. But I still find it to be a major positive improvement, because it seems that nowadays, the name Star Wars is not enough to sale succesfully, you also need to have quality. I enjoy SWTOR, but the "quality" I want in an MMO is supposed to be a continuous experience, with constant updates (like Rift) and with tons of people. TOR is not
an MMO, they really need to merge their servers together because its becoming ridiculous the number of people present during the "peak hours".. Again, I feel that EA is experiencing the backlash of the gaming community with their sales, and that is really great! EA do something!

Gee, who would have thought that a game that forces you to install spyware and another game made on a broken engine would sell a little under expectations?

Maybe EA needs to stop blowing money on idiotic advertising campaigns. Was there ANY reason to be sending ME3 into space? Any alien that found it would probably see the ending and proceed to destroy the planet anyway.

EA isn't going to do anything. They've had the better part of two decades to right this ship, and yet they keep making the same stupid decisions and pissing off their prospective customers. They will go down in flames before they start to use anything resembling rational thought.

If they would have offered BF3 on Steam then this would be a different story. I'm not sad about BF3 underselling though I am sad for DICE. I can't wait for Origin to fail. Shot themselves in the foot they did. Stupid they are

There are plenty of ways a sniper can help his teammates in objective games. While they scaled the MAV back, its still incredibly useful for spotting or creating distractions. They've improved the soflam as well. Best way to help your guys take down pesky choppers. What about the importance of providing efficient spawn points??

None of that even touches on the suppressive and lethal capabilities a good sniper poses, so gtfo of here with that tired anti-sniper argument.

BF3 underperformed on PC due to the assinine choice to require origin. It underperformed on consoles because its too complex and realistic for the CoD crowd, and I think we all know that.

EA makes high quality games, despite their shady business strategies and questionable ethics. That cannot be denied. I think its unfortunate that anyone who worked on BF3 may have lost their job, because everyone there who had a hand in creating that game did s great job imo... except for the battlelog and origin decisions. That guy deserves it, but he probably wasn't a DICE employee.

EA *did* make high quality games. This is pretty much no longer true these days as they're taking funds away from game development to dump into marketing, are putting up idiotic development timetables (see Dragon Age 2), and are more concerned with what microtransactions they can squeeze out of each new title rather than the quality of the title itself.

That's what happens when you create a rift between franchises. How many CoD fans did they expect to say "Aw yeah, this game sucks, I'm going to go buy Battlefield"? Anyone who disliked the newest CoD but liked FPS games were almost guaranteed to buy BF3, so why try to market a game so hard when it didn't even need half of the marketing it got?

They tried to be a WoW killer and a CoD killer and failed, according to them, miserably. I myself love BF3, it's no BC2, but it's still a great game. That being said, I also like CoD, but MW3 was absolutely terrible. I doubt I'll be buying another Sledgehammer CoD ever again.

I worked on both games and i can confirm there were layoffs in the QA department but the real reason in my opinion was to cut down costs and because EA thinks it's cheaper to bring new people than to invest in the employees.
