You probably weren’t worrying, but just in case, we can now confirm that the retail version of Slightly Mad Studios’ Need for Speed SHIFT will have cars and tracks. Yesterday, Electronic Arts announced the upcoming continuation of the venerable racing franchise would have over 65 “pixel perfect” cars and 18 true to life racetracks. So go away imaginary doubters. Doubt something else.
Among the cars listed (in full after the break) are the BMW M3 GT2 (the cover car), the 2006 Aston Martin DBR9, 2010 Shelby GT500, Pagani Zooda R, and the hotly anticipated SCION tC. The tracks (listed in full after the break) will include London, Dakota, and even Tokyo.
SHIFT is will ship in North America on September 22 and in Europe on September 17 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation Portable. Beyond the break is a little teaser video that you need to check out if you’re hot for burnt rubber and punching clutches.
I've always wondered why even newer racing games only feature the Challenger concept, and not the real thing. Even from this list, the New Camaro and Mustang are represented.
On the game though, it looks interesting, similar to GRID, which was fantastic. Hoping this is at least half as good as that.
I like the ratio of hot cars vs don't give a shit.
Also, since this is need for speed, I assume the police will be playing a large role. I didn't read the part where it said it's on real race tracks this time so you guys can all correct me if you want.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I'm too lazy to even google it but isn't NFS now split into different racing game genres; Shift being simulation, so this should like Grid/Gran turismo. No police makes me sad.
Well EA announced three different games this year:
SHIFT (PS3/360) - A 'more realistic' nfs, designed to go up against GT5 and Forza Motorsport. (I'm stoked because the interior cam from the original game is BACK!)
NITRO (Wii/NDS) - more of an 'arcadey'-feeling NFS, with super deformed cars (think Choro-Q from Japan, if you've ever heard of it) I've seen video, it looks kinda fun... just waiting on THAT car roster!
NFS: World Online (PC) - A free-to-play MMO racing game, I assume with paid content DLC cars and upgrades. Can't wait for the open beta for this one!
I've been a fan of that car ever since it graced the nordschleife with its presence in the 24hours :-) ( I'm even wearing a shirt of the team that made it ready for racing as commanded by Lexus, Gazoo Racing, right now :-) )

Shouldn't someone from Europe be better off reviewing it to get a quick start?
That was a joke right? Who the hell is honestly anticipating that?
