So here's how it works: a PC game is released, and it's followed by a few expansions, both of which sell well enough. Sales slow down a bit, so what's a publisher to do? Release a compilation featuring the original game and at least one expansion, slapping the word "Deluxe" on the box!
That's what Electronic Arts is doing this September, when it releases The Sims 3 Deluxe for PC and Mac. The box includes the original The Sims 3, along with The Sims 3 Ambitions expansion pack. So in addition to the usual Sims antics, players will be able to become ghost hunters, private investigators, firefighters, among other ambitions career choices. Also, Ambitions lets you add tattoos to your Sims, so you can ink "I ain't afraid of no ghost" in Comic MS Sans on your back, right above your butt crack.
Deluxe isn't all-inclusive -- two other expansions, Late Night and World Adventures, will have to be purchased for the full The Sims 3 experience. But if you're looking to get started, The Sims 3 Deluxe (which hits shelves on September 28) isn't a bad start.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
But they are so appealing, urgh! I WANT to play (I'd even pay!) but there are so many bugs that ruin the game it's just impossible to enjoy. Sound stu-stu-stu-stutter anyone?
I've had the bad judgement of buying both of the Sims 3 expansion packs, and I've officially given up on the franchise. I've never seen so many game-breaking bugs in a game before, and it doesn't help that EA releases patches once in a blue moon which only fix about 30% of the bugs.
Then you havent been playing The Sims. My GF owns everything of The Sims 2 and everything upto now of The Sims 3. Given the fact that I live with her, this means I own everything upto now bar The Sims 1. I sometimes play them at night as a way of winding down and I have to say that they can be some of the buggiest games I've ever played.
Just recently (off the top of my head) I've come across a bug with 'the time machine' in Ambitions which makes it so that if I use it, I dont go back in time, I'm just flung across the map to a glitchy ocean. I've also recently had a problem with Sims with the childish trait; If I play tag with another Sim with that trait, we can't ever advance past being friends in a relationship due to a bug with the coding that they still haven't admitted exists.
These are just two that I have experienced in the last 4 days and the childish bug seems to be affecting a lot of people. I'm extremely shocked that you have never found a bug in your games.
