In an unprecedented move, Electronic Arts has announced that they will be releasing another game in the ever-exciting World War II first-person-shooter series.

Building on the key tenets of the franchise including historical accuracy and authenticity, Medal of Honor Vanguard will ship to stores in March 2007 under the EA(TM) brand for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, as well as the Nintendo Wii(TM).

Note the "as well as the Nintendo Wii(TM)" thrown in there at the end. This doesn't mean the Wii version will be a port of the PlayStation 2 game with sloppy, tacked on Wii controls? That's unheard of!

Featuring spectacular graphics adding to epic combat intensity, Medal of Honor Vanguard makes you the driving force in the struggle to liberate Europe. As the first game in the Medal of Honor series to be released on the Nintendo Wii platform, players can expect Medal of Honor Vanguard to take full advantage of Wii's one-of-a-kind controllers.

"Full advantage," eh? Well that's vague. Looks like we'll have to wait until March 2007 to see if EA is using all of the money (and time) they're saving developing for the Wii, and actually investing in creating innovative, worthwhile software. My money's on "No."

I'm not so sure this will be a PURE PS2 port. I have been reading a lot of stuff about EA being caught off guard by the success of the Wii. I would not be surprised if they decided that they needed a Wii product (shooter) and decided to broaden the scope to the PS2 since it will likely be able to handle the graphics with a slight downgrade and it can take advantage of the PS2 install base. I think if this was a PS2 game to start off with, we would have heard about it a long time ago. The bad part about this is, that since it's probably a project with Wii in mind, and was therefore just recently started, it will likely be a rush job like Farcry.

"...in the struggle to liberate Europe."

The MoH series reached its peak with Pacific Assault, and has been nothing but a sham since. Yet they still will not go to other theaters of combat like Russia or Italy. I...just don't know what to say about this series anymore, other than that it should be laid to rest and have the team focus on something else. I'm shocked they're not exhausted after 7-8 years of focusing on the same series.

You question EA? You HEATHEN!

Seriously though, I want something different. Let me liberate somewhere else, like Australia. They had Nazis there too, right?

EA also hearts the DS and open talks smack about the PSP. Note that their PSP games are actually pretty solid and their DS games are the doo doo.
