EA and Dr Pepper strike multimillion-dollar marketing deal photo

IndustryGamers revealed today that Electronic Arts and Dr Pepper have struck a multimillion-dollar partnership. EA will be advertising Dr Pepper products in their games starting with The Sims 3 in early 2010. The partnership will see codes appearing on Dr Pepper products that will unlock special content in games, such as beach party items for Sims 3.

It's really impressive to me that this deal was with Dr Pepper and not Coke or Pepsi, two companies that usually get these kinds of deals. I'm glad Dr Pepper was chosen though, as it's the best soda on the market. No other soda comes close to tasting as good as Dr Pepper. Yes, I sound like an ad here, but I truly mean it.

Speaking of which, Dr Pepper, you can send me cases of Dr Pepper as thanks for this free advertising.

Agreed with CTZ on the greatness of Dr Pepper, but unsure about how I feel about this and what it means for the future of gaming.

Coco Cola (original recipe, with real sugar) is my fuel. Although I occasionally make an exception for Dr. Pepper.

I have to buy import Dr Pepper because they don't really sell it down here in Australia but it's so worth it.

Sweet, stuff for Sims 3 I won't have to pirate and can get from drinking tasty stuff instead. =D

Dr. Pepper is ok. Add cherry, however, and it becomes the Elixir of the Gods.

Amazingly smooth indeed.

This reminds me of the Mountain Dew/WoW partnership though.

I'm surprised at how accepting i've been of product placement in games, as long as it's done tactfully. The billboards in open world games, the rolling ads in sports games, racing game advertising. As long as I'm not getting Dr. Pepper cans strewn all over the ship of Dead Space or something, I think I'm good.

Speaking of things related to the greatness that is Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper Cherry made me angry, since I thought it tasted exactly like normal Dr. Pepper with only an extra speck of cherry flavor. However, I can't stay mad at it for long because it's Dr. Pepper.

Also, this Sim 3 thing is lame. Now if there were secret items we could find that gives us discounts on the sweet stuff, that'd be a different thing altogether. Hell, Playstation Home could do something like that, it'd probably be worth something. Since neither of them do that, they're not.

Also, Dr. Pepper.

I <3 Dr. Pepper so much. She's my general physician. I say she, because she's just so sweet. :) Also, I LOVE Dr. Pepper Cherry.

EA bonding with Dr Pepper?

Fuuuuuuuck, the line has been painted across Activision with MountainDew. EA is officially th new third party super hero.

Dr Pepper tastes like prune juice to me, unless it is the kind made with real sugar. Good for throwing their hat into the ring though.

Now that I'm getting old and my metabolism is slowing down, I'm afraid to drink regular soda. Diet Dr. Pepper is by far one of the best tasting diet sodas, so I would like to join this Dr. Pepper love in.

the funny thing for me is that Dr. Pepper is hoping to get more sales by advertising in EA games... but really, I see it as EA trying to make me give a #$%# about their crappy games when I'm enjoying my dr. pepper. I already love my dr. pepper, but there's no way in hell I'm buying an electronic arts game.

I know it's your opinion but we are not in early 2008 anymore, just saying.

Wow: have fun missing out on Dead Space 2 (whenever it arrives), Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge 2, Dragon Age, and other great games EA has used to skyrocket their negative image since (as Monodi stated) early 2008.
