Right now, during Microsoft's E3 press ponference, Hideo Kojima came out to show footage of the new game Metal Gear Solid: Rising. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
Granted, I am a huge Metal Gear fanboy, but, wow. Seeing Raiden -- the playable character in the game -- cut through everything on-screen was one of the most badass things I have seen in a really long time.
And cutting is exactly what the game is going to be all about. Using an on-screen reticule/guide, players will take part in a third-person action title (reminiscent of Ninja Gaiden) that follows Raiden as he slices and dices his way through ... well ... everything.
Seriously, the footage shown has Raiden cutting up robots, soldiers, concrete walls, and EVEN WATERMELONS! This title definitely looks like one to watch out for!
Check back in a few for the video footage!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
That white stuff on the floor could very well be my excitement for this game.
Yeah, I just said that.
Day one baby. Daaaay one!
DETAILS! MORE MGS! MORE KOJIMA!
HHHHHNNNNNNGGGGG
I hope this game comes
out to be really good.
Does Raiden still look like a zombie in this one?
I'm with you on that one. Peace Walker is the most fun I've had with a Metal Gear game. Normally MG controls frustrate the hell out of me but PW's are great even though it's on the PSP. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they take the series into a new direction since it's no longer tactical action. This game should be awesome.

Not simply because "action-imitation" is fun with full-body movements (it's not), but because determining the precision of a cut's angle would seem clunky with an analogue stick or whatever. Wii Sports Resorts Speed Cutting game comes to mind, in terms of executing perfectly angled slices in an elegant and engaging manner.
It may come as a shock to many of you, but motion control can be integrated in a subtle, elegant manner that actually benefits "core" games and gameplay.
He slices! He dices! And he can be all yours for the low, low price of $59.99! ;)
The cutting mechanic does look interesting, but I'm really cautious about this game.
