Apparently -- and this is news to me, really -- The Beatles are kind of a big deal. Something about shaping rock n' roll history, according to reliable Internet sources like Wikipedia. I suppose the same could be said about Harmonix's Rock Band, which is kind of a big deal in its own right.
So while I was at E3, I thought, "What the hell? I'll check out The Beatles: Rock Band." True story: I was late for my appointment by fifteen minutes, missing most of the presentation which took place inside of an amazing recreation of The Beatles' legendary Abbey Road Studios. I'm told the demonstration was great, by the way... I just didn't get to see any of it. I can't really wrap my head around why they simply didn't wait for me to show up.
Harmonix's John Drake was kind enough to let us sneak back stage, giving me the chance to assault him with questions (many of them inapprorpriate) about The Beatles: Rock Band. Hit the jump for a peek inside the mock Abbey Road Studios, to hear Drake sing the hooks for most of the 10 announced game tracks, and world exclusive information on in-game facial hair.
The presentation was ok...it's about as good as you can imagine having 5 random people play fake instruments to Beatles tunes (ok so kinda awesome).
John Drake was pretty cool, and very well-spoken for how young he is. I do like the "Dreamscapes" idea: aka the total acid trip journeys. I haven't broken the bank for a rhythm game since GH2, but I might consider this one based on how much I love The Beatles.
Fact: John is really awesome. Don't be mean to him. But that Photoshop is absolutely hilarious. Also, I'm definitely a douche bag, and it will come out sooner or later. Someone please Photoshop me into something!
Guys, guys, Nick and I are BOTH douchebags. Big thanks to R3Y for editing this in my favor though...to be clear, I didn't WANT to sing all 10 songs, Mr. Chester insisted on hearing more of my glorious voice. It's the only way he can get to sleep at night.
Nick and I will be using EA Sports Active to get into shape and then have a shirtless Beatles review-rematch where I am less of a pudgeasaurus.
I'm plugging it in the hopes that our EA-Partners rep hook me up. As Cadtalfryn points out, it's time to put down the E3 stress eating hoagie and pick up some sort of imaginary work out device/game.
Is everyone in the HMX office rocking the EA Sports Active? Will the entire industry be lean and mean as a result of the Wii Balance Board and EA Sports Active?
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
although I do with you went to that presentation so i could hear a bit more about it :(
I about this new thing called "proof-reading".
I might try it out sometime.

Also sexiest man in vidjagames my ass! That snotty mofo was a pudgasaurus.
I'm glad I wasn't alone in thinking that.

Good job Rey, Nick and John.
Uh, that's freakin' awesome!

Also very cool interview; MOAR of these. You do well in front of the camera Nick.
No, there won't be, I don't believe. Also, thanks!
As for The Beatles: RB, I have already decided to nab it. Still haven't decide whether I want to pay for it, though.
