I never stand my wii up either. I have the strange fear that standing a console up like that will wear out the disc drive faster. No idea if that's actually true, but it bothers me all the same.
I remember reading that they designed the SNES with no flat surfaces so people wouldn't put their drinks on it!
And to those going "What does it matter?" Be quiet, not everyone leaves in a mansion like you do and companies are suppose to make their products for everyone if they want sales.
Totally putting aside the fact that the console is about the width of its optical drive and takes up significantly less space than a PS3 or 360 when horizontal.
