Square is the last company I would trust when they claim something is real-time, but I will admit, this was really pretty. But we have no idea this is how any next gen console will look as of yet, we only know it's a possibility and that PC gaming will look like this soon.
like I sad above, this tech demo is impressive but the setting sucks. doesn't really look like a final fantasy setting, but the video is awesome
Until I see someone with a controller playing the game with actual in game footage, a trailer is nothing more than a cut scene. Don't care what company or publisher you are talking about, I wait for actual game play before I make any judgement calls on my games.
Can't wait for them to take 5 years to develop a full-length game with that level of visual fidelity and forget to make it fun or interesting.

When they say it's running in real-time I have to wonder "on what?!" This looks way beyond any current console or gaming PC. I'm assuming it was running on some dream system with three or four GTX 690's in SLI? o_O

... This is why FFvXIII is taking goddam forever. Square Enix should stop fucking working on so many games at once!

I know they have different dev teams, but this is the only reason I can make up for vs taking so long. Also, this game didn't show me anything that the Wii U could do. The cult leader guy looked like Noctis' father/king/whoever the guy was in the vs trailers, and real-time tech demo? But the FFvsXIII gameplay trailer they showed last year January looked the same, if not better, than this.

This is the Killzone 2 tech demo all over again. I feel like a lot of developers like to do this, claim somethings in real time to get people excited and then when said game actually comes, it fails to meet expectations. Hey it gets people attracted to their brands, right?
Also if this is where Final Fantasy is headed, I want no part of it. Aside from the dragon and a tiny bit of magic there's very little "fantasy" in Final Fantasy. What happened to crystals, white mages and chocobos???

This demo probably set back the development of FFvXIII 4 months. Seriously get to fucking work Square Enix.
From now on I hereby declare that it is now industry standard that if a company is to present a "real time" tech demo that they also release a prerendered one as well.

more time money and effort wasted that could've gone to versus13...this shit ALWAYS fails to live up to the hype. Remember the first ff13 "in game" footage? nothing like what the game turned out to be, aside from character design
That video was bizaree as shit, you got this wizard dude with an amazing beard, then these terrorist start shooting you with guns, then the stab a dog with some juice and it turns into a porcupine, then a dragon comes out and you fly into the sky.

The shot at the end with Agni on the Dragon showing how that location blended with the more traditional Final Fantasy Sci Fi locations was really well done. I thought it looked like it could be a cool world to explore.

The only people that called it a remake were people that didn't know any better. SE was VERY clear that it was only a tech demo to show what the PS3 could do. Also people really put too much into these things. There is a big difference between what can be done real time and what can be done in-game. Also given the sacrifices SE had to make just to make FFVIII look as good as it does I'm not really interested in better looking JRPGs. I want BETTER JRPGs.

I didn't see what was so 'FInal Fantasy' about this, then I saw that the character was a teenager with impeccably feathered hair. That figures.
Eh. This is pretty, but nothing we haven't seen before. There are other tech demos from other companies that are more impressive - hell, there are games with better facial animation than this already. This pretty much looks on par with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It's cool we can now have that level of graphic quality in real time, but it's not something that's blowing me away.

It's certainly looking better than what will actually get released on next-gen because of the cinematography : focus shot and all. When you play there's little to no picture composition.
Also the action scene was so confusing. I had no idea what I was looking at. I hate stuff like this, quick shots, camera looking at nothing, exagerated close-ups of blur, etc.

I gotta agree with Derangel, it may be very pretty, but with game costs already enormous, what kind of cuts towards gameplay and mechanics can we expect in order to make games that look like this feasible products?

This is obviously a new vision for SE, and it seems like this is where they wanna take FF. I say let em, this honestly looks great, and while they're so many things that can go wrong (Linear gameplay<--great looking game), the more we keep tying them down to FF7, the more we will keep getting games like FFXIII. I say let em go wild on this next one.
I don't wanna play games where the action's all bluury as shit. Loved the beard physics. Hated the fast blurred-ass action.
