I LOVE Silent Hill games but might have to pass on rebuying them as I higly doubt I will revisit them, they are just nice to beat and remember forever.

Not only that, but it's a good way to catch up new gamers for continuing series (eg God of War, Metal Gear, Beyond Good & Evil). It just doesn't seem like a proper collection without the first game, but I'll probably buy it anyway. My love for Silent Hill 3 is just that great. Very random how some of these collections are multi-plat and some are only on PS3, though.
I remember Silent hill 2 freaking me out when I was young. Hopefully the set of balls I grew prevents that happening a second time.
Yeah, I wish they could do Silent Hill 1-3, just like it would be great with Metal Gear Solid 1-3. Wonder why they're cutting the 1st game out of each franchise.

I think they keep ignoring the first one because it is a PS1 game. It would be harder port/upgrade. But there's no excuse for not having it on PSN.

@dtomek: I disagree, I think Silent Hill needs more "HOLYSHITISHATMYPANTS"; more action would downplay the horror and scariness a whole freaking lot.
The first Silent Hill not being on the disc might have something with it being PSN. Depends on how the licensing agreements are written, I suppose.

Likely because of disc space and ridiculously high publishing costs for multi-disc games on the 360.

Silent Hill 1 is the only game to literally give me nightmares. SH2 and SH3 just couldn't compare but they're still creepy as hell. As for the outsourced Silent Hills... high budget but pitiful.

Silent Hill 2 is something everyone should try. It's a milestone, one of the first console games with a serious plot. Love SH1 but this game goes into much deeper real-life themes.
What's funny is that even the parts of SH2 that fail the hardest, the unpleasant side characters, the repetitive fighting, and the big empty environments, all seem to feed into the game's feeling of decay and sickness and only make it a stronger experience.
I replay this one almost every summer. It's going to be hard waiting for October.

Cool. Despite the fact that the backwards compatibility feature of the 360 causes major game breaking glitches on Silent Hill 2, who cares if we get to play it? Woot
As someone who hasn't played a Silent Hill game all the way through, I'm going to have to get a copy of the original game, then this HD collection. I'd rather play them in order. I'm just like that.
I hope you can buy the games individually in the PSN store like PoP and Splinter Cell, already have SH2 but never got 3....
Keep in mind that there is major necessary continuity between SH1 and SH3, but SH2 is largely isolated from the rest of the series. About all you need to know is 'creepy town people with problems arrive at.'

I've only ever played the first. Thanks to a lack of a 360 port looks like that's all I'll ever play.
The PC version of SH3 is the best port of all SH games. I looks and plays absolutely amazing. SH1 is just a bit better, SH2 is the same shit (though the game is already fantastic), SH4 is a pretty bad port (the framerate is unbearable) and SH-H plays the way it should.
So IMO, SH3 and SH-H are the only ones that don't need an HD port, the others really need it and they were intentionally left out. And with this nonsense exclusivity, this looks like they're shooting down their own feet.

Dude, it's because of you and those of your kind that Silent Hill isn't the same. Think about the genre, there's a reason why it is (or was..) called "Survival Horror".. well, it used to be that way -- I really hope they slowly erase the "action" element in the new titles of the franchise. But that's not going to happen.

they'll probably include a voucher for Silent Hill 1 download for PSN(they did that for MGS1 for MGS Collection HD)
still im a little wary about this, because:

B. the recent news about konami changing the VA, what the fuck? seriously Konami not only your changing the original design, but tampering Team Silent's masterpiece despite being disbanded years ago. how can you go wrong from a simple HD high resolution, improve sound quality, increase frame rate and better visuals? just do what Team ICO did, up the resolution and visuals, increase frame rate, and add trophies, maybe 3D or Dual Audio(in other games) NOTHING more. you could add new monsters and all but that's it. this is not a REMAKE. it's only a HD Collection nothing more. you don't see them replacing the voice actors of MGS(god forbid) or ZOE(seriously do not screw this up).
hopefully there's dual audio for MGS and ZOE collection(as an OPTION).

Huh, new voice acting you say... I do see stories about that now, also the mysterious one about Konami contacting Guy Cihi (Sunderland) for... something.
If so, that's a problem - SH2 did have some uneven voice acting and strangely translated dialogue, but there's the chance to taint the memory if they don't do a good job this time. Cihi's soft voice is pretty unique for a main character in a game.

Having read up on it a bit, it really sounds like it'll be partial original cast, or else fill-in dialogue for extra content, rather than a complete re-record. There aren't that many character parts in SH2 and it's really only James and Maria that can make or break it.
