Ubisoft had a competitive match of ShootMania: Storm live during their press conference, pitting men against women. They were all videogame veterans in some way or another, but the presentation was incredibly hokey.
ShootMania pits a defending team with rocket launchers against an attacking team with a laser rifle. The laser rifle kills in one hit, but the rocket launchers take multiple hits to bring an opponent down. The match is won by eliminating the other team or if the attacking team captures the control point. The men won the match 3-1, but it didn't have much tension since the matches were so quick (it was 3v3). I look forward to more of ShootMania and hope it can prove that the on-stage demo was a misstep.

I was surprised to walk into a hands-on opportunity just one day after the title was officially announced. Surprised and pleased.
It may not have been the PlayStation 4 launch game I was hoping for, but it's never really a bad time for more Gran Turismo.
