^ Jokes. It's late.
Maybe in the right environment and under the effects of the right substances and illusions, the slow and awkward non-gameplay builds tension and atmosphere? And it will just serve to make the well-designed action gameplay segments even more awesome by comparison?
Not necessarily, but where is the horror in what was shown? For a demo, you generally what to show off the really suspenseful parts of your game and not just the go from point A to point B and we will tell you some story stuff that won't matter til you actually play the game.
I mean look back at Resident Evil games there was always highly suspenseful moments, even with its slower paced nature.
The camera angles greatly played into this suspense because you had to watch as the zombies slowly shambled onto the screen with their god awful moans. Nothing in this demo invoked that same, "Oh boy, that looks outright suspenseful".
Oh well.
From what I've seen, no. No I fucking wont.
And I still hate that FPS style "HEY! OBJECTIVES OVER HERE!" symbol.
It's rather brilliant, isn't it?
"Is it safe?""Yes,it's safe. It's very safe. It's so safe you wouldn't believe it!"
Not only is there no danger present, it looks about as fun as having one's teeth pulled.
Never has a marketing slogan been so apt for a franchise. I think I'll go on pretending the series ended after RE4.
Sums up everything I feared RE6 would be. So we've got Chris in a run-and-gun squad shooter against soldiers on rooftops, we've got the new guy and Sherry riding around on motorcycles shooting exploding barrels and Leon just gets to walk from quicktime event to quicktime event.
I've been playing the series since the first game and the only games in the series I've missed so far have been the Wii-exclusive ones. Hell, I still have my copy of Survivor 2; most people forgot that game existed two weeks after its release. I've got all the RE figures, I even quite enjoy the films. It would be fair to say I am unhealthily invested in Resident Evil. But I can safely say that I will not be buying RE6 and I shall not be playing it unless free copies rain down from the sky. We've seen each of the three sections of it now and no part of it, either in concept or apparent execution, sparks my interest. Capcom has actually managed to come up with a way to completely turn me off, which is quite, quite amazing.
Some of you guys are being too anal.... GRRRAAAAHHH HUUURRR DUUURRR WEN DOO I GIT 2 KIILL STUUUFFFF!!!!!!
Although I do agree it's a horrible thing to demo. It does give me hope that Leon's sections will be overall not too action-y, but if this is what I'll be demo'ing with my copy of Dragon's Dogma, I'm not totally looking forward to it.
thanks for this summary of the demo. it's kinda hard to find fair and unbiased articles on RE6, since most people on the internet want to fling poop at the series with it's new changes, but i can tell you're not a hater.
I just want something to happen in a videogame that I am playing. This demo did not provide that service.
@ Jakkser- No, slow paced survival-horror is still awesome. That's why I loved the RE:Revelations demo from last year so much.

This demo was nothing like that.
Get serious!
Japan plots are more interesting than western plots because they have charm. It says right on your profile that you like Resident Evil! You're not some kind of cutscene-skipper are you?!
And yes, Leon's campaign is supposed to provide suspense. This demo did not provide suspense. It provided boredom and a sense of disconnection to the game's events. That's the opposite of suspense.
@ Darkbeat- I love the plots and storytelling techniques of the classic Resident Evil games. Starting with RE5, they've gone in a bad direction. RE6 seems to be even worse. Apoligizing to the president after you've just killed him is past the "charm" line and into the "why am I even watching this?" line of stupidity.
You can't have a demo at E3 with actual suspense and atmosphere (unless the atmosphere is an EXPLOSION) people want huge set pieces. Also, apparently female nudity is a good thing (Far Cry 3).
That's ALL you need to get a good rating from these....people.
And God forbid there be any OTE's in the game... stick waggling was never performed in any games until they got all "Hollywood" on us... oh wait, like a million arcade games from the 90's used this method of shaking things off of your character... but somehow that's ok I suppose.
Then he didn't. Good job. Keep it up.
Here's what I don't get, for both of them. They are recently the target for anyone and everyone's bad opinion- Rarely anything good is ever heard. That's because the people reviewing these games, Resident Evil especially, have opinions that completely glorify the game going in a different direction. For you to say this game has no mystery in a way that sounds like you're complaining, and then for you to say you love the cod-based style of Chris's campaign, is completely contradictory! There is nothing mysterious about that, yet it's people like you who keep this game going the way it's going!
I don't watch many reviews on games, but out of the few I have watched, I have never heard a grown man complain so much! People need to respect that if they made the game so great before, then you need to have a little more faith and trust in the series. Zombies have finally made a reappearance in Resident Evil after a few dormant years, the last thing this franchise needs to get back to it's original glory is idiot opinions saying the army style gun-on-gun combat is as good as you make it out to be.
