I like that the AI this time around are more like Poker players when they were more like Rock Paper Scissors players in I Am Alive.
It sounds like a lot of games. I've read about games that "plays out differently every single time", have "group behavior in the AI" and etc a lot of times before. Hopefully they'll release some more gameplay to show this is not just another Uncharted.
@solidturtleman
Yeah, that was a bit brutal. I just assume there's some backstory to back up Joel's ruthlessness...
Hopefully at least 10 years right?
This has to be one of my most anticipated games so far!
It seemed like your character should've had the ability to get by without being noticed.
Mr Andy Dixon, solidturtleman: The E3 demo is after the demo shown ad judges week. And that is after the cutscene where Jole and Ellie are ambushed by dudes pretending to be hurt. So it makes sense for Jole to have no mercy.
It seems stealthy, obviously, but that's not really the main thing. The main thing is how the AI react, and I don't know if these were things that were first in MGS3, but the AI just reminds me of MGS3's AI. Especially when Joel ran out of bullets and his gun clicked, so the guy moved in for the kill - a similar thing would happen if you clicked an empty gun in MGS3.
im gonna stock up on alcohol and just drink it all.
From what I've seen of this game (and hopefully it remains true in the final product) if you engage a group of enemies they're going to hunt for you until you take them all out or escape the scenario entirely.
Couldn't agree more. Hope it works out but for me this whole article is just a slavish regurgitation of the routine pre-release hype that every game gets. Sure Dale will be the first to complain when the game is released and the gameplay still just boils down to 'go there and shoot the dudes'.
I also wonder how often does it take control away from the player during those hand-to-hand sequences. I'm pretty sure they'll stick to two button Uncharted scheme - you just have to press the action button to attack and another button to avoid getting hit when it's necessary.
Seems like it's not a game where you have to "survive", it's more about being aware of your surroundings and reacting fast. I'm okay with that, although that mechanics implies a trial and error approach.
For those comparing this to MGS, I must have missed the part in that series where the AI was this intelligent. Or acted in a way that was organic, most notably in their speech. I'm pretty sure that never happened. Ever.
@solidturtleman
Did you miss the part where they were being chased into a building by bandits? The entire gameplay demo is them trying to survive. They go on the offensive because they know they're going to be killed. All of them were armed with something and were trying to kill them.
So yea, when the hero manages to kill an evil motherfucker in a bad ass way to end an incredible demo, they're going to cheer. FOR THE GAME. Get your head straight, man.
Let's all play the game first before making decisions on how good it is. Naughty dogs track record speaks for itself. Especially 3rd person action games. Im excited, but still reserving judgment.
Judging by the cheers, pretty sure they know what they were doing. If anything, this update shows that those 'scripted' events you're bitching about are more like triggers that are activated upon certain actions by players. Or maybe you just want the AI to silently bee-line it to the PC when they spot him from a hundred yards away, because god knows we don't have like a million of those types of FPSs around already.
If not I'm pretty sure all they added in was you being able to be stealthy until the first guy is aware, then you'll be pin pointed on every ones map. Sounds like a ton of choice I suppose... Well here's to hoping for an A,B,C ending, I know how everyone loves those. XD
I'm gonna wait a few days instead of getting it day one though, just incase.
