This new direction has pissed me off. The developers come in and mention that she was too "Teflon" and people can't relate to her, so they make her scared and defenseless and spend the next year and a half showing her getting her ass beat.
I'm sure that is relateable to the target audience.

I like the shift to a darker, grittier Lara and world. And I love the character design, she's beautiful but not ridiculously proportioned. But the execution, like you are saying, is pretty awful and kind of offensive. Kind of like what they did to Samus in the last Metroid game.
I was really hoping this would go a tougher survival themed route and be more open-world. Kind of like Stalker or something. It looks like Yet Another Linear 3rd Person Action Game, though. Boring.

This trailer was amazing, and was the reason I preordered. Then I heard about the exclusive dlc thing and cancelled it. Never had that happen in such a short time before...

I think this looks really intriguing. I am really interested in it though I do feel the voice actor didn't sound as.... pained(?) as she should of, though I may have been spoiled by some of the more blood curdling segments of Witcher 2. Also noting two things:
1)She has HORRRIBLE luck

It's really intriguing, but damn... her voice acting... or maybe more precisely, the direction they had the voice actor go... it's just high pitched and dainty. That's the only part that seems insensitive about her portrayal. The same lines could have been delivered in less of a Princess Peach fashion and they'd have been fine and likely more relatable. Still, it looks like the best Tomb Raider I've ever seen, so props, mostly.
This game looks cool. I just got a Tomb Raider USP like in the game http://www.airsplat.com/airsoft-video-games.htm and they have a bunch of other guns from different games.
