I really really really like Ellen Page... but she has a tendency to REALLY overact... luckily I think video games benefit from that... unfortunately I have no particular love for David Cage so in conclusion...

David Cage is man trying to see if he can trick people into buying a bad sixty dollar movie again. I think people are crazy enough to do it. I mean, that video had absolutely no player interaction and yet people are excited for it.

For the first 5 minutes of that demo they could have told us it was Billy Connolly playing the part of Jodie Holmes, and it wouldn't have made any difference. She didn't say or do anything.

@Startyde You're missing the point. E3 is about showing off games and gameplay, not showing some fancy cinematic. It's there to give people are reason to get excited about a game. What did this preview do for people? It gave them a five minute CG movie about a relatively boring. When games like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy are shown, they are usually accompanied with gameplay sections that show the person controlling the character and showing the actual gameplay elements. Not press "Triangle to dick around some more." Or in this case, nothing at all.

I do wish they had shown off some kind of gameplay. That felt like it was just a cut scene. A well acted and well directed cutscene, granted, but it gave no indication of what the game would "play" like. If it just plays like Heavy Rain I will be disappointed.
I do love Ellen Page though, so I'll keep an eye on this one.

i read this as i scrolled down the main page and thought Johnathan Holmes had gone bananas while watching the Sony press conference.

Ellen Page in all of the things, including barely interactive movie-games that have philosophical goals far too lofty to actually be reached by the development team. I'll still watch-play it when it releases.
David Cage can and has been a pretentious dick, but there are other people who work at Quantum Dream as well, and they make incredibly impressive games. The graphics, animations, and acting in that trailer were stellar. Don't let Cage's Cage-iness cloud your vision. This looks like it could be cool.
It looks great and I am a sucker for a nice immersive gaming story. Thrilled about the Ellen announcement.
Another game to MST3K by. They should really add a spectator mode, the abilty to record it and voice chat to this game just so people can do that.

Oh boy, here comes David Cage tackling another deep and existential subject for the greater good of gaming. I'm happy someone is trying to rock some narrative focused games, but for fuck's sake, David. Could you not try so hard to be some transcendent game making icon and just write a decent story without all the fucking pretense?
There's something off about her character model... like she's missing a few neurons or something... I'm pretty sure there were a lot of frames where she was sitting cross-eyed, being all dopy and quietly in that chair... probably just me.
@Ducks: What about Hard Candy should drastically alter public perception of Ellen Page? It's a good movie, and she's crazy good as a 12 year old murder-holic.
