optional coop..................
"What's interesting is how the game's events change with Carver in the mix. Visceral says that the story actually changes and new areas are opened up to explore when playing co-op. In addition, you'll come across new challenges that force you to use cooperative strategies and different gameplay techniques, making a co-op play through a different game from single-player."
Two different games, yo.
"Shit bro, watch out for that motherfucking drill!"
It's not survival horror. It's just a flat out action game at this point, one that seems to have lifted half of what made Gears Gears and dropped it in where they figured it was necessary.
Man, am I glad I just read your post. After watching that demo, I was having a total wtf moment. I've only played the demos from the first 2 installments and got a good feel for how the game played. I'm glad to hear you can still experience the creepy game everybody's come to love.
They scrapped all competative multiplayer for Co-op. That's a much much better use of resources than shoehorning in shitty multiplayer.
All games from these huge companies will have some kind of multiplayer. Might as well have Co-op which actually fits instead of mindless multiplayer.
And everything is alright in the world, finally someone understands how to do co-op properly.
Isaac is now just another fat space marine on a segway.
Does that mean if we are playing by ourselves that we will be locked out of some areas? In that case I'd hardly call the coop."optional" if that's the case. If we want to see everything the game has to.offer we'll probably have to log on to Xbox live and play with random 12 year Oldsmobile screaming into the Michael louder than a necromorph could ever hope.
Oh well, I guess that's just the future I'll have to get used to. Resources are wasted on me unless I am playing with someone else. There are other problems that can come along with too much of a focus in coop (difficulty balance for example) and I don't have the religious devotion to visceral as some people seem to (I played Dante's inferno)
That being said I'll still play it. Dead Space 2 didn't fall to EA's bullshit as bad as some games. I still have some faith in the Dead Space series.
i also miss the claustrophobic levels like in the first two games.
i DO NOT like this piece of information
"When you play with co-op, you’ll experience additional story details only available when the second character, Earthgov Sergeant John Carver, is around."
this is like ME3 all over again, the only thing you can max in offline play is at 50%(even though there were a few missions left it never went up in my file) you have to play online just to boost that.
god damn it.
Single player won't have the dudebro interactions because Carver won't be there the whole time so I can see the potential still. They haven't shown any gameplay without the co-op partner so I'll withhold any griping the Dead Space is ruined until then. I have hope the single player will retain the horror element.
At least Co-op will give me a reason to play through it twice.
It didn't. Dead Space 2 was fucking awesome.
If I can play Dead Space 3 with my girlfriend and enjoy a different experience then by god that sounds just lovely. I only hope there is split screen or I'll be forced to buy two copies!
