As part of their Darksiders II coverage, Game Informer asked Vigil Games how they feel about the new Nintendo console. Vigil told them that they are still wrapping their head around most of it, but they already have some ideas for using the new controller to do things like inventory management. However, they are not very interested in "any gimmicky stuff like with the Wii launch games."
Vigil also believes that Wii U ports will not necessarily be inferior to other versions of a multiplatform game. In fact, when technical director Colin Bonstead was asked whether the Wii U version of Darksiders II might be the best one, he replied that he believes so because "the hardware is more powerful and it will have some extra features that I think will be actually useful to people playing the game."
That doesn't mean you need that version to simply play and enjoy the game, just that it might offer some extras.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
At least there's one good thing.
I can't tell what the controller will feel like. Looking at it, yeah, looks totally uncomfortable. But when I see people holding it, it doesn't look so bad. I sort of hope this isn't the final design, though. The sticks and buttons look like they're too close to the edge.
I was concerned at first too, but after I thought about it, it's probably similar to holding a DSi XL.
Inventory management, is that really going to make anyone buy a WiiU? And won't darksiders be out long before the WiiU?
Right now, I'm sure the developers want to hype up the system as much as possible. And Nintendo wants gamers to think that developers are super excited.
Which I think is TERRIBLY uncomfortable. I have huge hands.
I like the feel of the DSi XL. It's the only handheld that doesn't give me a cramp in my index fingers.
Much as I like the 3DS, I feel like I'm going to break the it when I hold it.
Not more than a PC, though. But consoles will never be.
lmfao

"Except that PC should be capable of doing anything the Wii-U can do and more. Too bad developers don't actually make games based on the PC's capabilities."
The PC version of Darksiders was pretty good.
