Are you shitting me nintendo?
Then again, it must'vve been unveiled very recently to developers. Those early supporters are most likely just planning on dumping some titles on it and seeing if it sells.
This is NOT how you sell a new videogame, though. Providing the very same software available for older, cheaper consoles is not enticing.
Local 5 people multiplayer, on the other hand, is absolutely delightful. I have a feeling that once more we'll have to rely on Nintendo to provide quality software for their console. The drawing thing was pretty cool though.
go ahead and call me a troll, but that controller is far from optimized from actually playing 360/ps3 games. Little analogue nubs at the very top of the controller, big useless screen that won't be used extensively by most 3rd parties, so it's just a cost increasing, battery draining waste. Like I said, if the WiiU costs more than a PS3, then you'd be dumb to not get a PS3 if you want to play games like this.
So having a realistic view on this makes you a troll? Only if you're a fanboy incapable of thinking critically about the business and design choices and flaws the company you insist on beating off makes. You eat up the crap offered by Nintendo like it's gold goose shit, when in reality, they've only announced a third party MULTIPLATFORM title that's already established itself on two other consoles.
Oh yeah, and that controller is going to fucking ruin this consoles. If a regular old console controller is $60 or so, how much do you expect a controller with a HD touch screen built in?
But of course, I forgot. Rationality doesn't run in the mind of a fanboy.
I'm not sure about classic controllers, but you can't use wii controllers or gamecube controllers to play these next gen games. Gamecube controller lacks 4 shoulder buttons, and has a crappy c stick. Wiimote/nunchuck lacks buttons and only has one stick. I'm sorry but if you are going to buy a new console that comes with a tablet, so you can use a wii remote which has a classic controller attached to it... come on.
So you're kicking something to the curb that has unique content, and embracing Darksiders II for Wii-U, which you can get for 360, PC, and PS3?
Wut?
Gamecube controller has 3 shoulder buttons, so i guess it lacks ONE not 4. And no, i don't think you NEED a new system if you own a current gen xbox or PS, and you obviously do, so let's GTFO from articles about things we don't want :)
who's saying that will hurt the system?
i think the argument is that the cross-platform games (like darksiders) will be easier to play on the controllers that are ergonomically designed to be held for hours. also, you don't have to pony up the extra $$$ for a brand new console.
i am extremely interested to see how cross platform titles utilize the touchscreen/cameras though. if it really changes the game for the better, THAT would get my attention.
I'm not saying the classic controller pro will not be supported. I have no idea whether it will or not, and I have no idea if it has all of the 360/ps3 buttons. (apparently it does). I'm just saying it seems like a lot of hoops to jump through, discarding the systems default controller just so you can hook up a wii remote which also is discarded so you can use a classic controller? It seems like nintendo didn't think this through and just wants to throw peripherals at people
@david r tabullo
I guess this system would be absolutely perfect for people who only have a wii. So if that applies to you, then go ahead and feel free to disregard all of my criticisms. But how many people who are actually interested in hardcore games, only have a wii? Honestly, this thing will sell because the first party games alone, I can't imagine that 3rd parties are going to be a huge boon for the system.
How do you play Skyward sword and Twilight on Wii?...
DAKSIDERS 2 can be easily played on Wii U with a Wiimote/nunchuck combo...
um... not really.
You wouldn't have camera control with a second stick. Darksiders 1 used all of the buttons on the 360. All four shoulder buttons, a d-pad, four face buttons, and 2 sticks. Assuming Darksiders 2 is drastically different on Wiiu, then you have to be crazy to think you can play this game with wiimote/nunchuck.
