It would have been better if he explained why Xbox Live's "identity" wouldn't work. Doesn't PSN have accounts as well? It seems like he just dodged all of the questions with nonsense...
As for the PC side, it does and doesn't make sense. Sure they'd lose some eve players, but the PC FPS market is huge and having it there would pull in more people to eve and dust.
I thunk ignore the PC hurts more than helps in the end. They'll probably release a PC version if the PS3 numbers are weak or once they sober up and realize the profit potential.
why no pc release? well they could do cross-platform like with what steam did with portal 2 couldn't they? or something.
I'm not saying they don't deserve it. I'm saying, give a real answer as to why other consoles aren't getting it.
So you'd have PC users wiping the floor with console owners if they existed side by side. This is the hurdle that has not and probably will not be solved for quite some time. Beyond users using a mouse and keyboard (would PS Move balance the advantage?) on their PS3's there just isn't going to be a way to make it fair.
Portal 2 only worked because it was cooperative play so one partner having a mouse/keyboard versus one with a console controller didn't harm anything.
If they can find a way to monetize the isk console players can earn into real life money, the interest in this venture could become intense and ruthless on both ends.
i think what they are planning on doing will be similar to the system in metal gear online, where you have an account with them that is independent of your psn account that you play under. i'm guessing thats what they mean.
But I would gladly play Dust 514 if it were to come out on PC. It's a different genre, so the whole story about cannibalising their user base is a big lie.
But are Warcraft III and World of Warcraft both MMO's? No, they are not. Dust and Eve are both MMO games so to release both of them on the same platform and taking place within the same universe would be cannibalistic to a certain degree.
@ sofik
just shut up. just because they had a playable version of it doesn't mean they ever came to an agreement with how the game would work through Live's system. and you're the biggest 360 troll this side of Dtoid so kindly piss off.
Why don't they just say the real reason it's exclusive. It is for the same reason all exclusives exist. Because Sony paid them. It is and always will be about the money.
That is correct. There will be no monthly fees, as CCPs logics is that it's a type of game where you pick up and play sporadically. It does not match with a monthly fee model for an MMO, where you're in for the long haul.
It will be driven by micro-transactions where you can buy weapons and stuff. Though it will not be more powerful than what's possible to get normally.
@ Lenigod
It is going to be persistent in a way that has never been done before, thanks to the integration with EVE Online.
The EVE universe contains 67253 planets that players can exploit, and DUST is going to use them as battlegrounds, where the outcome of the battles will help decide who owns the system the planets belong to.
EVE players will contract DUST mercenaries to aid them in their conquest of territory in EVE Online.
So the outcome of battles in DUST will help shape the power balance in EVE Online.
Unlike Biohazard, I hope you never get banned. Your contrived, borderline insane rationalizations make me so happy. I can just see a developer scraping AAAAALLLL their work to make their game lower quality because it's on one consoles rather than the other. That's awesome.
Phantasy Star Universe is a online RPG for 360 that doesn't require you to use your Gamertag in game. You also don't need XBL Gold to play it. *gasp*
So go with the company that "JUST" got all of their customers personal information stolen? VERY SMART!
Just because your mad its not comin out for the 360 doesent mean you have to say things like this. I hate the fact that this is all that 360 owners talk about. Yea Sony F***ed up but they still have a really large fan base even after all this. I own both systems, and love them both the same they both have advantages and disadvantages. Tired of console wars, and tired of people being bias to one system or the other. Oh and Sony has always had the best exclusives, plain and simple.
EVE events (PC) lead to Dust battles (PS3), which have outcome in EVE (PC).
EVE events (PC) lead to Dust battles (PS3) or sometimes Dust battles in another network (X360), which have outcome in EVE (PC). How would this work? X360 get some sectors of EVE universe, player ordering the strkie in EVE choose with network will the battle rage on? etc
