Battlefield 3's presence at the Electronics Arts E3 press conference started out nicely enough. Look at those lighting effects! And the particles, oh boy, let me tell you about them. On the visuals side, it was a riot, no doubt about it.
But then it kept dragging on, and on. And on some more. The tank demonstration was simply too long to throw in a conference like that. Right this moment is a perfectly acceptable time for it, though. Embedded is the full single-player demo for your consideration.

When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

TOTALLY!
I literally had chills when I jumped into a building and shot the place up as it sounded amazing. I'm an audio whore and sound is huge for me.
Sound, agreed. Switch over to MW2 and it sounds like you are shooting with tin cans. Can't wait to pump up my m audio av40's with this...good times awaiting.
Every shot from the guns in this game will probably feel like a kick in the chest. Good times. MW3 looks quite fun, but doesn't seem to have anything new except more features that require subscription fees, while Battlefield 3 looks gorgeous, immersive, fun, and offers most of the same subscription based features that MW3 has, but without the subscription fee.
Hmm, I wonder which game is going to deliver the better goods?
My bet is Battlefield all the way.
I was gonna say, visually it obviously looks incredible, but the sound design is absolutely top-notch. They weren't kidding when they said they we're really trying to focus in on that. I'm still smiling about that radio chatter...
Anyone there know the specs of the PCs they are running these demos on? I'd like to get a feel for what it takes to get it to look this great so I can guess what I'll see.
Looks amazing... it did go a little long, but hey. Really hoping this game does usurp COD, although I kind of doubt it and even if it does, I'd be afraid of what it might turn into.
Gah! People who say its boring. They're showing off how big maps can be, an you people realize war is not all corridor shooting shotguns to the face with killstreak perks, sometimes it quiet, and those quiet times build tension...
Gamers tend to piss me off sometimes with their perpetual need to have everything exploding every two seconds no wonder the cod trailer is made the way it is
Oh please, just shut up BF3 fanboys. This is a completely average, poorly paced rehash of Bad Company 2's tank battle except with better visuals and audio, and since it's part of the SP and not a tech demo we're going to be forced to go through it.
Some people don't like this demo, you do. Get over it.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Not the only one who thought so.
The tank gameplay drug on for being a demo. I had more fun watching the 40 second mp clip.
Still can't wait for this though, it's gonna be great.
@Wolfy you're not alone, the sound design is top notch.
