They didn't mention when the Wii U is coming out, right?
Because Arkham City is only a few months away, so I'm guessing it'll be old news by the time it releases on Wii U. Still cool, though!

While I loved the unveiling, and the fact that a bunch of triple A titles are going to be released for the Wii U... the Xbox 360 is still my multiplatform system of choice.
I'm at work right now so it's hard to check up on stuff and such. How does the wii-u's (can't believe I typed that in) hardware live up to the 360 and the ps3?
The name of the console is fucking killing me. It sounds like a shitty university that accepts anyone.

Well it would be nice to see what take they have with this version on the wii u . Alos it could be the gold edition of that game when it does come out knowing nintendo. Where it has all the extras already with it.
Needs exclusives. Good ones at that. Arkham City will be an old game by the time the console's released. I don't know what WB has on their minds.
People who want this game already have 360/PS3/PC. That tablet controller does not look like the optimal way to actually play games (analogue nubs at the top of the controller?!?!?). You're gonna need A LOT more than ports Nintendo.

It seemed like the Wii Remote and Nunchuk could be used as the main controller for almost every game, as well, meaning people won't need to use the tablet all the time.

but the wii remote and nunchuck won't be able to play 360/ps3 games without a second analogue stick. I guess you could maybe use a classic controller (even though I don't think that thing has buttons to replace the trigger buttons).
This thing better not be more expensive than the PS3. Otherwise why not get a PS3? And when Sony and Microsoft are ready to move to next gen in 2-3 years, Nintendo will either force customers to buy another console already, or they will be floundering with this thing like they were floundering with the wii. I'm avoiding this thing, the gamble isn't worth it.

Like llort said, the WiiU (i can imagine people calling it pee-yew) needs more than just ports. They need exclusive 3rd party content, like extra DLC and exclusive 3rd party developed titles if they want to compete. A different control method won't cut it, as the Wii showed everyone. If they want to win back all of the lapsed Nintendo fans from the SNES/N64/Gamecube days then they need to convince them that they're getting something on this console that they're not oing to get on any other console. Otherwise why would people give up their trophies/achievements to buy a 2nd or 3rd console that does largely what the PS3 an 360 do?

Its just a name, so who cares about the name? If people can get over Wii, or PSVita, than I'm sure WiiU can become the norm as well. At the end of the day its all about the games and they look great, they have tons of major hardcore 3rd Party support. Plus they talked about how the online will be better, so at the end of the day, who cares what the name is? Just call it the Nintendo HD if you want!

This is awesome, this new arkham city can be its own bat-gadget, providing a full-scale interactive map maybe some in-game components like lock-picking, spot-welding, applying explosive foam getting enemy intel and hyphens
So you'll be able to play a game that will have been out for what a year when the Wii U finally gets released and it'll be cheaper on the PC/360/PS3 by then? This isn't exciting, having ports is only relevant for games that are being released in the same time that the console is hitting stores.
