They do have Aliens and Darksiders 2, but the rest isn't exactly inspiring.
Pandaring to the M-rated crowd?
Hrm, yeah. I can agree. I can also see a very misguided attempt to woo "hardcore" gamers, without either putting the work into a completely new WiiU game or risking annoying the PS360 market with a serious "exclusive" WiiU game. (Capcom, for example, aggravated the PS2 market when Resident Evil 4 was being called exclusive for the Gamecube.)
So these companies are looking back at whatever successful stuff they've had in the last year or two, porting them to the WiiU, throwing in some controller gimmicks, and are going to try to sell it as a great new experience.
Then when the games don't do as well as hoped, everyone (at least everyone at Nintendo and the various third parties) will say that there is no hardcore audience on the WiiU.
Well, I got a really bad taste in my mouth after Reggie feverishly tried to convince a "I'm not buying this at all" Geoff Keighly in his interview after Nintendo's main show, that this game is indeed a "new game" despite it only being a bunch of the same stuff we've already played with tacked on gimmicks, then an actual new game. I mean, you could see it in his eyes, he knew he was shoveling bullshit, but here he was, with a fresh new shovel in his hands ready to start pitching shit.
So no, different doesn't mean better in this case.. It means "A waste of cash" in every possible way, both for fans buying it, and the developers who could have put it towards a *real* new game or IP, that would better utilize this controller.
Expect the same to follow with Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 (which will be nothing more then a port, I'm sure, since the game seems to be coming out far before the system will be) though, cause this shit isn't going to stop for at least a year or two after the Wii-U's launch, and thats if the support even lasts that long (remember, like I always say, we forget that the Wii had the same sort of support till 3rd parties just plain stopped because the projects were too taxing on them. I don't trust that the same cascade of canceled projects isn't going to happen again.).
Comparing Nintendo's stupid gimmicks to other stupid gimmicks does not excuse Nintedo's stupid gimmicks.
Oh, Nintendo. Oh, poor, poor Nintendo. I liked you when you were cool.
