E3: Aliens: Colonial Marines for Wii U in development photo

Gearbox and SEGA have come out to announce officially that Aliens: Colonial Marines is "being prototyped and considered for the Nintendo Wii U" and that work for the Wii U version is currently "under construction by a dedicated research and development branch within the studio."

In case you didn't know, Aliens: Colonial Marines will see you perform Xenocide with movie-inspired weaponry on the surface of LV-426, the USS Sulaco, and Hadley's Hope.

An obvious implementation would be a motion sensor of sorts, although that would probably mean you would have to look down on the screen, only to see that a Xenomorph is right around the corner. If so, let's hope we learn to look up at the TV again when it is actually eating our face.

Can't wait to see the motion sensors used in the movie on the controller screen.

That would actually make the feature better in my opinion. It would both add suspense to the gameplay by forcing the player to momentarily divert his attention and discourage constant radar use (which would also add suspense).

I can't wait to see how well the touch screen controller will be utilized in this game, the potential is mostly limited to the developer's creativity....... mostly.

I love that nintendo is trying to get the hardcore back, but most of their 3rd party line up is going to be a year late and $20 too much when it comes out. I will continue to get my multiplatform releases on the PC, but I think I found my new console.

when is this game rumored to come out?

cause that MIGHT give us either a time frame for the wii-U. or atleast a general idea of when to expect it

I agree with everyone about the motion sensor on the the controllers screen. I will be quoting Hudson throughout the entire game:

I would also love to see camera rotation done via the touchscreen, along with flares and grenade buttons beneath it. So that you have motion sensor on the right, buttons on the left. Though I am not sure if the controller would have enough sensitivity for the speed you need in this sort of a game. A man can dream though.

Holy misleading headline - development of a prototype in an R&D lab does not mean it's *in development*.
