But not just this industry. There's a reason why stuff like Transformers, Chipmunks and such movies get high visitor numbers. Nostalgia is a powerful drug.
There, fixed that for you.
E3 to me has always been about surprises. All I saw was the typical Mario (as fun as I'm sure NSMB2 will be, it doesn't exactly get my pulse racing), and two third party titles which could very easily be of a very low standard.
Where did Capcom go? They gave the 3DS an excellent nudge at the start of its lifespan, and since then have remained very quiet about any localisation of MH3 Tri and MH4. They now seem more concerned with iPad ports of Street Fighter v Tekken (really?!)
But honestly, as much as I'm bitter there wasn't much new, I've no doubt NSMB2/Paper Mario/Luigi's Mansion will sell more millions, but hopefully next years E3 will be a little more exciting for the gamers, and not just for the investors.
I haven't felt drawn toward any Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc sequel in years. Furthermore, I feel many Wii iterations are steps back from previous generations because simple button inputs are replaced by inaccurate waggle gesturing. But people eat it up. I don't understand.
Sadly there is not much to understand, but I know exactly where you are coming from.
The 3DS showing was fairly lackluster. I was hoping to see more gamez we haven't heard of, or hear more about gamez we haven't heard much about yet.
In general, I'm okay with Nintendo's approach to first-party releases, because they're consistently fun and well-executed. You also have to consider the fact that while a few different Mario games may get released in any given year, they're usually in drastically different genres. Their lineup would look more "diverse" if some of those games were original IPs, even if the gameplay was the exact same. Also, when you look at it that way, the gaps between sequels seem more reasonable.
Have a Mario game at launch, people bitch.
Make up your minds, people.
Just like your generalization of comparing Nintendo fans to Sports series fanatics?! You lump a bunch of people together in your example then call out someone for the same damn thing.
You say you have no interest in Nintendo games but here you are reading and commenting on a story here....
