Oh, Kevin Perreira, how I envy thee! He and the rest of the G4 crew got a chance to sit down with Michael Booth, founder of Turtle Rock studios, and look at the upcoming zombie FPS, Left 4 Dead. Unfortunately, the interview didn't tell us much that we didn't already know -- co-operation is imperative, an omnipresent "AI director" controls the action sans triggers, and the players are given the choice to play as humans or zombies.
As someone who used to spend hours in the Bunker in Goldeneye, trying to kill as many guards as possible as they swarmed the control room, I'm looking forward to slaughtering what appears to be the Golden Horde of zombies. Turtle Rock is taking advantage of it prolific and imprecccable relationship with Valve (they worked on Counter-Strike), using the Source engine to its fullest to provide that next-gen, whole-lotta-enemies-on-the-screen feel.
If this gameplay footage is anything to go by, Turtle Rock may be living up to the hype, and I thank them for it. There a few points in the video that would clearly overwhelm the single player, so it would seem that the co-operation is just as important as we've been led to believe.
Unfortunately, there's not too much the video about playing as a reanimated corprse; but I do know that the Quasimodo zombie is a serious hoss. Conisder me on the bandwagon.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
That's all I have to say.
FPS no= RTS
What they NEED to do is make sure they have a separate multiplayer mode (aside from the campaigns) of a "king of the hill" type match. Sit on a hill or in a bunker and wait as the zombies keep pouring in!
Now all I have to do is begin assembling a four man All-Star team from my friends list.
I just destroyed the front AND back of my pants while watching that video.
The game had better not suck.
Ewww.
@ Mozgus
I have to hang my head in shame as I forgot to add TF2 on my most wanted list.
Every time I see a new trailer for a game, I say it's my new must have of the fall.
Assassin's Creed
Left 4 Dead
Rock Band
Eternal Sonata
Blue Dragon
GH3
Team Fortress 2
Speaking of TF2, did anyone notice that on the XB360 Fall Games video at E3, it showed "The Orange Box", which I always thought was gonna be Half Life 2, but it also showed some TF2 footage. What's the deal with that? Are they going to be sold together?
Anyhow, L4D looks pretty sw33t. Is it gonna be available in stores tho, or do you have to order it online?
